Are you experiencing ringing or buzzing in your ears? Do you find yourself avoiding louder social situations?

If so, you may be experiencing tinnitus and/or decreased sound tolerance.

In addition to hearing loss, individuals can experience a range of auditory issues at any age, including tinnitus (commonly described as buzzing, hissing, or ringing in the ears), hyperacusis (reacting negatively to sounds which most people don’t mind) and misophonia (reacting negatively to specific sounds or sounds in particular situations).

This education session will help those experiencing any of the above understand what is occurring within their auditory system and learn about potential treatments. Furthermore, the session will provide solutions that are beyond simply hearing aids.

On September 15th from 630-830p, we will be having an educational session at McNally Robinson. It is a part of the community classroom series.

Join us for an educational session on tinnitus and decreased sound tolerance on Tuesday JUNE 24, 2025 from 6:30-8:30pm.

In this session, we will explore the causes, symptoms, and management options for individuals experiencing tinnitus and heightened sensitivity to noise.

Our goal is to provide you with the information and tools needed to better understand these conditions and improve your quality of life.

Some individuals affected by tinnitus (commonly described as buzzing, hissing, ringing in the ears) have hearing loss and they may experience decreased sound tolerance (hyperacusis and misophonia) as well.

People with hyperacusis react negatively to sounds which most people do not find bothersome. Those with misophonia react negatively to specific sounds or to sounds in particular surroundings or situations.

They may or may not have tinnitus.

This education session will help the person with tinnitus and/or decreased sound tolerance understand what is occurring within the auditory system and learn of potential treatment that can be utilized.

Our next session is Saturday March 15 from 930-1130a.

It is necessary to attend this session prior to booking a tinnitus assessment.

Last week I had the opportunity to provide audiological services to St Theresa Point First Nation.

I have been going to the community for over 6 years and it is always beautiful.

I have the privilege of working with the community, health centre and school. Together we are providing these services as a collaborative team.
