Traveling abroad with medications? Here’s what you NEED to know.

Just because a medication is legal in Canada doesn’t mean it’s allowed in other countries. Some common prescription and even over-the-counter drugs are restricted, regulated, or banned internationally—and bringing them across borders could lead to serious consequences at customs, including fines or confiscation.

Here’s how to stay travel-safe:
✔️ Check the rules of your destination well in advance (including layover countries!)
✔️ Travel with the original packaging and clearly labeled bottles
✔️ Bring a copy of your prescriptions and a doctor’s note, especially for controlled substances
✔️ Pack meds in your carry-on, not your checked luggage
✔️ If your medication needs refrigeration or special storage, talk to your pharmacist ahead of time
