👀 Feeling Eye Strain from Screens? Try the 20-20-20 Rule! 💻📱

Staring at a screen for hours can leave your eyes feeling tired, dry, and strained. One easy first step to try? The 20-20-20 rule:

🔹 Every 20 minutes,
🔹 Look at something 20 feet away,
🔹 For at least 20 seconds.

This quick habit gives your eyes little breaks, helping to reduce digital eye strain and keep your eyes and eye muscles feeling less fatigued. (Imagine going to the gym to lift weights 🏋🏼‍♀️ and not taking any breaks for 8 hours!)

And of course make sure you see your Optometrist to make sure you have the proper eyewear correction if needed. 👓💙

Guess who got to carry the Manitoba flag today at the Opening Ceremony for the Canadian Association of Optometrists Congress in Halifax today… our very own Dr. Luke Small! This is his last event as a CAO Board member and the Manitoba representative. Have a great week Dr. Small!

It’s about time we make Dr. Carrick official and get her name up on our sign! Dr. Carrick currently works Wednesdays at A&S. We feel very lucky to have her here even if it’s only one day a week. She’s quite busy between working at another private practice as well as regularly traveling up to Thompson, MB seeing patients there. Did you know Dr. Carrick was actually one of Dr. Luke Small’s first student externs back when she was in her 4th year of optometry school at University of Waterloo?

Hey Dr. Small here…I have quite a few pairs of glasses as you can imagine being an optometrist. But I have to say I am LOVING my new Kay Tran Eyewear frames. I have a hard time finding larger style frames that don’t hit my cheeks when I smile but these really fit perfectly without touching my cheeks. And despite being a larger frame, they are super lightweight and comfortable. Kay Tran Eyewear specializes in hard to fit flat nose bridges but they really work well for all different faces. And they are a local Winnipeg designer! 🇨🇦 Thanks ! And thanks to our frame stylist because she got this exact frame first and I had to copy her. 👯‍♀️ (twinning photo to come)

We love when our patients show up to pick up their new glasses with clothing chosen to match the new frames! These iridescent frames are GORGEOUS and the custom Profilo clip turned out great!

It’s official! Dr. Dhaliwal has been seeing patients at A&S since Fall 2024 but now it feels legit since he’s officially on our sign. If he looks familiar it’s because Dr. Dhaliwal worked for us in his university days as a pre-tester even before going to Optometry school. We are so happy to have him back. Come see him Mondays at A&S. He’s taking new patients of all ages.
