One thing we care about in Mini Band Shoulder Flexion? Pushing out!
That gentle outward tension keeps your shoulders engaged and stable while you lift overhead. 🙌
Remember:
1️⃣ Band around wrists
2️⃣ Push out (light tension)
3️⃣ Raise arms overhead, control the return
Strong shoulders. Better posture. More mobility. ✅

Is Rest Always Best for Healing? Maybe!

When you first injure a muscle (like a strain), short-term rest helps reduce pain and inflammation. But complete rest for too long can actually slow healing and lead to stiffness or weakness.

✅ The key?
Active recovery—gentle, guided movement and rehab exercises that promote blood flow and rebuild strength without overstressing the injury.

Your physiotherapist can help you find the right balance between rest and activity to speed healing safely.

So, rest when you need it—but don’t stay still for too long!

Whether you’re swinging a bat, shooting a puck, or throwing a ball—thoracic spine mobility is a game-changer.
One of Lorissa’s go-to moves at Elite St. Vital? Thread the Needle. It’s a must for athletes looking to:
- Improve upper back rotation
- Relieve tightness in the shoulders and mid-spine
- Enhance performance in rotational sports (think golf, baseball, hockey, and tennis)
- Reduce injury risk during high-demand movements

Add it to your warm-up or recovery routine—your spine (and your game) will thank you.
Want support integrating sport-specific mobility into your training? Book with one of our physiotherapists today.

Leg day before client calls hits different when the hype squad shows up like it’s Olympic training camp.
Just me, my hamstring curls, and a whole lot of unsolicited encouragement.

Knee Sprains 101 with Elite Transcona’s Lea Woloski!

Knee Sprains happen when ligaments are stretched or torn. They’re usually classified into three grades:

Grade 1: Mild overstretch or tiny tears. You might feel some soreness but can still move okay. Usually heals quickly with rest and gentle exercises.

Grade 2: Partial ligament tear. More pain, some swelling, and weakness. Rehab is important here to get full strength back.

Grade 3: Complete tear or rupture. This is serious — lots of pain, bruising, and loss of function. Surgery and longer rehab might be needed.

If you think you have a knee sprain, getting a proper assessment from a physiotherapist can help you recover safely and faster! Get in touch today!

Scoliosis is a condition where the spine curves sideways, often in an "S" or "C" shape, rather than running straight down the back. It can range from mild to severe and may affect posture, mobility, and even lung function in more advanced cases.

Common Signs of Scoliosis:
- One shoulder appears higher than the other
- A visible curve in the spine when bending forward
- Uneven waist or hips
- One shoulder blade sticks out more prominently
- Back pain or discomfort (more common in adults)

Concerned about scoliosis? Book a consultation with Paula at Elite St James today—early support makes all the difference.

One of Elite St. Vital physiotherapist Martin Skiarki’s favourite exercises (he even says he could “do it forever”)?
👉 The Copenhagen Plank—and for good reason!

Want to build serious hip strength, improve core control, and prevent groin injuries? This physio-approved move is especially popular among athletes and active individuals.

The Copenhagen Plank:
- Activates your adductors (inner thigh muscles)
- Supports hip, groin, and core stability
- Is ideal for both injury prevention and rehab

Whether you're recovering from a groin strain or working to build strong, stable hips, this advanced exercise can be a game-changer.

⚠️ Pro Tip: Start with a modified version—control and form come first before full holds!

Want to learn it properly from a pro? Book with one of our physiotherapists today.

Your Career’s Thriving—But Is Your Glute Health Falling Behind?

If you’ve got a desk job, chances are you’re clocking 8+ hours a day in a chair. And maybe you’ve noticed that your backside feels… sore, stiff, or just not quite as perky as it used to be.
It’s not in your head. While your career might be going places, your glutes might be sitting this one out—literally.
Prolonged sitting leads to something called gluteal amnesia—your glutes start to “switch off.”Since your glutes play a vital role in hip movement, pelvic stability, and spinal alignment, their inactivity can throw your whole body out of balance.
But don’t quit your day job just yet—there are simple, effective ways to keep your glutes strong, activated, and doing their job.
Bottom line? Your b***y deserves better.
