Today, September 10, is World Su***de Prevention Day — a time to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and strengthen our ability to support those at risk. Su***de affects people of all ages, and the role we play as trusted adults can make a real difference in our workplaces, communities, and personal lives.
While women are more likely to attempt su***de, men are three times more likely to die by su***de. This higher rate among men can be linked to several factors, including increased alcohol use, relationship breakdowns, and societal pressure to uphold traditional masculinity norms, which can make it harder for men to recognize signs of mental illness and seek help.
