Family Dynamics

Family Dynamics Strengthening Relationships and Communities since 1936. Throughout the years we have evolved and adapted in response to emerging issues impacting family health.

Family Dynamics was originally conceived in 1936 to meet the needs of Winnipeggers where gaps existed in the social safety net. Our broad range of strengths-based programs and services are linked together with “family” at the core. We are committed to building family and community capacity

Our services are available to all Winnipeggers regardless of social or economic circumstances. Most services are delivered in the community in client homes, schools, child care centres and subsidized housing communities. While our counselling and EAP services along with facilitator training and workshops take place at our agency in the heart of Winnipeg.

It is Transgender Awareness Week — a time to recognize, support, and celebrate transgender and gender-diverse community members.

At Family Dynamics, we honour and uplift these communities in all of our programs and services, creating safe, affirming, and inclusive spaces for everyone.

November is Domestic Violence Awareness Month - a time to raise awareness, support survivors, and strengthen our collective ability to respond safely and compassionately in our communities and workplaces.

In Manitoba we use the term Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) to specify the abuse that happens in the context of intimate relationships. IPV impacts nearly everyone, whether that is directly or indirectly.

IPV can take many forms, including physical, emotional, verbal, financial, and psychological abuse. It affects people of all ages, genders, and backgrounds.

If you or someone you know needs immediate support, call the Domestic Abuse Crisis Line: 1‑877‑977‑0007.

Our Youth Leadership Programs at Family Dynamics help youth ages 13–17 grow confidence, independence, and community connection through workshops, outings, and opportunities for service.

This weekend, youth from our Tuxedo and Elwick Family Resource Centres joined the N’Dinawemak Community Care Team for a community walk — learning about N’Dinawemak – Our Relatives’ Place and the powerful work being done to support relatives experiencing homelessness. Along the way, youth helped hand out bottles of water, sandwiches, and snacks, and supported the team in caring for the community through simple acts of service like picking up garbage.

It was a meaningful day of learning, reflection, and connection — helping our youth leaders build not only skills, but compassion and awareness for the communities they’re part of. 💛

On International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, we would like to shine light on some collaborations;
We are more aware than ever of the barriers that people in our community face and we know we cannot take these on alone. We collaborate with others such as and to mitigate food insecurity.

This aligns with and actively expresses our mission: “to bring programs, partnerships, and resources together to empower and strengthen families and communities”.

These partnerships and collaborations also result in more effective use of resources, shared learning, and gradual improvement to addressing poverty in Winnipeg communities. THANK YOU

Today, October 15, is International Pronouns Day – a day dedicated to respecting people’s pronouns, affirming human dignity, and creating welcoming, inclusive practices for everyone.

Why it matters:🏳️‍🌈

Pronouns are an important part of how we express our identity. Using the correct pronouns shows respect, fosters inclusion, and supports transgender, non-binary, Two-Spirit, and other gender-diverse individuals. Remember: you cannot tell someone’s pronouns just by looking at them.

By normalizing pronouns in our programs, activities, and communications, we also help children and families learn about respect, diversity, and inclusion from an early age. This is especially important for the families we serve across all ages and backgrounds in our local communities.
