Yesterday I had a good talk with a client about how hand pain can be more than just what they are feeling in their hand, or in this case the thumb. This is one of the many things I love about reflexology - how well it works at connecting the body together as a whole!

When someone comes to see me with hand or foot pain I will ask a lot of questions about how their arm/leg, shoulder/hip are as well. I also always work a lot on the spine reflex as it connects to everything! Also it is important to note that between our muscles and bones we are really just one long chain and a problem in one part of the chain may cause an issue in another part of the chain.

And this is just the start of all the connects we can make as reflexology therapists!

I also asked what else was going on and there was talk about concern for the liver. I found this interesting as in TCM the liver is connected to the ligaments and tendons! For those of you who are not aware, the top part of the thumb (where the pain was) has no muscles, only ligaments and tendons to help with movement and stability.

To me reflexology is like doing a puzzle and connecting all the pieces together! I love creating personalized treatment plans for my clients and that is why I have started to create a whole program that is centred around this and I hope to share it with you all soon.

So many people make New Year's Resolutions that barely last a week. I want to share with you how reflexology can help your Resolution stick.

Let's look at some of the reasons why Resolutions don't last.

One thing I've seen is that many people start exercising like crazy and they quickly get too tired or injured. In my reflexology practice I often help people lesson their aches and pains, like back pain etc.

Also, people are often too busy and therefore become very stressed. The other thing I focus on a lot in my reflexology practice is to help people calm their nervous system and learn to relax!

This is because many of the reflexes worked on during a reflexology session are related to areas like your brain. This means reflexology can help calm your mind. We can also work reflexes for your lungs and diaphragm to help calm your breathing.

I hope you will consider adding reflexology to your life so whatever your Resolution is, you will succeed!

If I learned anything last year, it was asking for help in any and all areas of your life can really help you succeed!

Let's work together and conquer those resolutions!

Our wish for you is that 2026 is not only a year that brings you peace, it is a year where you make self-care a top priority by making you a top priority in your own life! Here is to a fantastic year!

As this year is about to end I admit I have became a little sad. As I reflected on things that were hard for me to come to terms with, I somehow was only seeing the negative side to human nature. This is not usually the way I am. So, I found this great template on Canva which helped take my negative thoughts and figure out how I can turn them around.
I think we all deserve to feel powerful but not at the expense of others. So, in 2026 I am going to post as much as I can about all the amazing powerful people I have in my life! As well, I will look at what power means when we look at it as a tool to help everyone!
I hope your year ends with as much positive reflection as I was able to do!

A very Merry Christmas to you all!

What another fantastic reason to get reflexology! When I teach reflexology I talk of the importance of the particular lymph reflexes.
Now I’m going to talk about this idea of how the whole foot is a great tool to help people with lymph conditions.
And I can wait to practice on my clients where I work more with this intention!
I love learning more about the body, especially when it is something I can apply to my reflexology practice!

👣 The Lymph in Your Feet: Why Your Toes Might Be More Important Than You Think
When we think about circulation and detox, most of us picture the heart, the liver, or the kidneys. But here’s an underrated truth: your feet are lymphatic powerhouses, silently working to detox your body, regulate inflammation, and support immune function—all while you walk, stand, or even wiggle your toes.
Yes, your feet do far more than take you places—they help keep you alive, clean, and balanced.

🧬 What Is the Lymphatic System?
The lymphatic system is your body’s second circulatory system, consisting of:
* Lymphatic vessels (similar to veins)
* Lymph nodes
* Lymph fluid
* Immune cells (lymphocytes)
Its key roles include:
* Clearing waste and cellular debris
* Transporting fats from the digestive system
* Regulating inflammation
* Carrying immune signals
Unlike the cardiovascular system, the lymphatic system doesn’t have a central pump (like the heart). It relies on muscle contractions, gravity, and movement to circulate lymph.

👣 The Lymphatic System in Your Feet
Your feet contain a dense network of superficial and deep lymphatic vessels, all designed to transport lymph upward against gravity. These vessels drain into larger lymphatic trunks in the ankles and calves, then continue their journey toward inguinal lymph nodes in the groin, iliac nodes in the pelvis, and ultimately into the thoracic duct, where lymph rejoins the bloodstream.
Key lymphatic components in the feet include:
* Dorsal digital lymphatics (between the toes)
* Plantar lymphatics (bottom of the foot)
* Posterior tibial lymphatics (deep inside the ankle)
* Superficial lymph capillaries (just under the skin)

🔄 How Lymph Moves Through Your Feet
Because gravity pulls lymph downward, the feet are particularly prone to lymphatic congestion. Movement is essential to drive fluid back up the body.
Lymphatic flow in the feet depends on:
* Walking or toe flexion (muscle pumps)
* Ankle movement (activates venous-lymphatic synergy)
* Proper footwear and posture (restrictive shoes may impede lymph flow)
* Manual stimulation or dry brushing (boosts superficial lymph movement)

🧪 What Happens When Lymph Doesn’t Flow?
When lymph becomes stagnant in the feet, you may experience:
* Pitting edema (swelling that leaves an indentation)
* Heavy, tired legs
* Cold toes or poor circulation
* Skin changes (hyperkeratosis, dryness, thickening)
* Increased susceptibility to infections (e.g. cellulitis)
Lymphatic stagnation in the lower extremities can result from:
* Sedentary lifestyle
* Prolonged standing or sitting
* Post-surgical trauma (especially orthopedic procedures)
* Venous insufficiency
* Chronic inflammation or autoimmune disease

💃 Fun Facts About Foot Lymphatics
* 🧦 Compression socks support both venous and lymphatic return—your lymph loves them!
* 🌙 Lymphatic drainage is slower at night, which is why many people wake with puffy feet or ankles.
* 🔄 The plantar fascia (thick tissue in the sole of your foot) influences lymphatic flow by stimulating movement when walking barefoot.
* 🌿 Foot reflexology points correlate with major lymphatic pathways in the body.

🌿 How to Support Lymph Flow in the Feet
1. Move often! Rebounding, walking, and calf raises are your lymph’s best friends.
2. Hydrate well. Lymph is 95% water—thicker lymph = slower drainage.
3. Use a massage ball. Rolling the soles stimulates deep plantar lymphatics.
4. Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD). Gentle hands-on therapy can mobilize stagnant fluid.
5. Elevate your feet. A few minutes of elevation each day helps reverse gravitational pull.
6. Reflexology Lymph Drainage (RLD)

🧠 Final Thought
Your feet might be the furthest thing from your head, but when it comes to immune function, inflammation regulation, and fluid balance, they’re front and center. A healthy lymphatic system starts from the ground up—and that includes your soles, toes, and ankles.
So next time you stretch your feet or walk barefoot in the grass, remember: you’re doing your whole lymphatic system a big favor. 👣💚

Today I had a great time presenting at "Tea with Auntie" at Migizii Agamik, the U of M Indigenous Student Centre. I started with a brief introduction about reflexology and it's history. Then I talked about how I have been incorporating the different Indigenous Teachings into the Reflexology work I do, whether its working on a client or teaching a Reflexology course.

One thing I mentioned was how I love the Medicine Wheel and the connection to ourselves Physically, Mentally, Emotionally, and Spiritually. I am trying to work on living a more balanced life as this helps me to be a better therapist.

I also find it helps me to help my clients more as I realize that if they are experiencing some type of pain, this pain may not just be affecting them Physically, but Mentally, Emotionally, and Spiritually too!

I love to keep learning and figure out how everything in life is interconnected! Here's to more learning!!!
