Black Friday shopping fun… until you start spending all your money on false promises in pretty packages 😅

As a naturopathic doctor, I want you to save your money for the things that will actually move the needle with your health, not just more gimmicks.

So, here’s what I would NOT buy on Black Friday.

Here’s the truth:👇
Knowledge doesn’t cancel out being human.

No amount of degrees, training, or experience makes you immune to hormonal shifts, stress, burnout, or the mental load of life.

If you’re navigating postpartum, PCOS, PMDD, fertility challenges, or just the weight of everyday womanhood… and you feel like you “should be doing better”…

Please hear me:🫶🏼
You are not behind.
You are not failing.
You’re living in a real body, in a real life, without a team of assistants or a perfectly crafted routine.

And you deserve support, not shame.

save this for next time you need this reminder💕

You deserve better than Dr. Google.

PCOS looks different on everyone, which means your plan should, too.

It’s not about cutting out another food group, it’s about finding where your body needs support most.

Research shows that restoring optimal levels of this nutrient can support hormone signalling, egg quality, and metabolic function.

If you have PCOS, add this to your lab checklist and use data to guide your care, not guesswork💕

You’re not failing at motherhood.

You’re navigating it in a world that gives mothers all the responsibility, but very little support.

You’re waking up through the night, feeding, healing, holding, soothing- and then wondering why you’re so exhausted.

You’re doing the work of a village, mostly on your own.

You don’t need to “do more.” You need more support, more rest, more care.

Postpartum isn’t just about caring for a baby.
It’s about caring for yourself while your body, hormones, identity, and heart all transform at once.💛

If you’ve caught yourself thinking “I should be doing more,” “I should be happier,” or “I don’t feel like myself”, pause.

You’re doing enough.
You’re healing.
You’re mothering.
You’re growing.

Perspective changes everything.

PCOS is not a fertility sentence.

Your body can ovulate again.
Your cycles can regulate.
Your fertility can thrive with the right support.

That means focusing on ovulation (not just bleeding), stabilizing blood sugar, and getting the right testing (so you’re not guessing in the dark).✨

This isn’t about perfection, it’s about giving your body what it needs to do what it was designed to do.

Can’t wait to dive deeper into this at this weekend!💕

I see you mama.

The biggest influence you can have on your health starting today is to be open to receiving help, in whatever capacity that is to take care of yourself so you can take care of your little ones.

As a type A person, who loves to be in control, who is also a people pleaser, I spend more time judging myself on how I think people will view me if I ask for help. Maybe they’ll think I’m ‘inadequate’ as a mom, a mom who ‘can’t do it all’ and who is ‘weak’ for having some off days.

This belief system is just hard wired in our brains because of how society expects us to just ‘bounce back in 6 weeks’.

All I have to say is I see you, and I’m here to support you in the most beautiful but most challenging journey. It’s okay to ask for and receive help, but that can be the most challenging part of your healthcare.

I’m currently on a modified maternity leave & soaking in all of the baby snuggles with my twins, but if you want to get a head start on your health before the start of 2024, send me a message or use my link in bio to book. I’m passionate more than ever to close the gap for mamas in healthcare.

A notice to all of my patients 🤍

I will be on maternity leave beginning next week as Chris and I welcome our twins!

We’ll be soaking up all of the precious moments so my activity on here will be limited.

For my Vaughan practice, my leave will be until approximately November 2023. I will have limited virtual availability for follow ups previously scheduled for current patients. If you require a visit or have an inquiry, please email info@drannaleezacaputind.com and allow a few days for a response as emails won’t be monitored as routinely. Communication will be sent out when I am accepting in person visits again.

For my Guelph practice at Natural Choice Medical Clinic, I will resume seeing patients virtually in February 2024 with limited in person availability to follow. In the meantime, my amazing colleague Dr. Daniela Jesin ND will be caring for you. If you need any assistance, please email the admin team at info@naturalchoicemedicalclinic.com

New patient appointments will be limited, so book in advance today using the links in my bio!

Looking forward to seeing you soon xoxo

Cycle Tracking 🩸

In my clinical practice, menstrual cycle history is always something we assess and discuss. This becomes a lot easier to track treatment progress if we implement cycle tracking.

Here are 4 things you can start tracking today:

1. Cycle Length - this is involving Day 1 of your cycle (1st day of your period) to the next Day 1. This allows us to track your cycle length, changes in patterns and consistency depending on your goals.

2. Bleeding Quantity - in order to assess "heavy bleeding" and the consequences of such, we like to know how much blood you are actually losing. Noting how many times you are changing your pad/tampon/ diva cup helps us to have an idea of flow.

3. PMS Symptoms - and this goes far beyond mood changes. This can include acne, bloating, changes in bowel movements, cramping, and more. Tracking these symptoms is a great way to determine at what points of your cycle you experience certain things, if they're even cyclically related, and can indicate to us if you're ovulating.

4. Cervical Discharge - if we're trying to predict ovulation, changes in cervical mucus can help to indicate ovulation. Discharge changes throughout the cycle, so noticing a more egg white, sticky and watery consistency is a good thing to note.

Our menstrual cycle changes from puberty to peri-menopause. Tracking can be such a beneficial tool to help identify patterns and treatment progression.

There are so many free apps out there that can help make this an easy health habit.

Some of my favourites include the Clue app or the Flo app. But anything that can track these metrics will work!

Your future self will thank you for this one (and your ND too)!
