We tend to think we need to rest once everything is done and when we're exhausted. However, we really need to schedule breaks and rest throughout our days so that we don't end up on empty!

Give yourself a little grace and space this week by scheduling in some breaks to recharge before your tank is empty.

It's important to be compassionate with ourselves when we make mistakes.
Self-Compassion by Kristin Neff, Ph.D. shares some phrases we can use when this seems difficult.

✨ 4 Self-Compassion Phrases to Support You in Any Moment ✨
We're all human and get it wrong sometimes. The words we tell ourselves when this happens matter.

Instead of blasting yourself with harsh criticism, ask yourself, β€œWhat do I need to hear right now to help support myself?” Try repeating a phrase that speaks to you in your particular situation. Some potentials are:
πŸ’– May I give myself the compassion that I need
πŸ’– May I learn to accept myself as I am
πŸ’– May I forgive my imperfection
πŸ’– May I be patient with my mistakes

This type of warm self acceptance provides the emotional foundation needed for growth and change. What resonates with you? Comment below and let us know the phrase that speaks to you the most!

Adapting to being back in school can be a big adjustment, so we’ve asked some of our providers for their best tips to help ease the transition.

Here are 3 tips from Stephanie:

πŸ’§ Layer in physical connection to recharge your kiddo’s emotional batteries in the morning before school, after school, and before bed when they need it the most

πŸ’§ Check in with your kiddos around their thoughts about going back to school and provide examples to normalize what they might be feeling. You can use statements like β€œI don’t know about you, but when I was little I…” to help start the conversation

πŸ’§ Make it fun! Create a family mantra or pick a song to repeat when they need a boost

The transition back to school can be difficult for some children. Amanda McCooeye, MA C*C - Child & Youth Care Practitioner, RSW suggests sending them with a small trinket (or a heart drawn with marker on the inside of their hand) to carry with them. This is a reminder that even though they are not physically with you, you are still with them.
