π For nearly 20 years, people across the world have observed Pink Shirt Day. It first began in 2007 when two students in Nova Scotia organized a protest in support of a classmate who was bullied for wearing a pink shirt. Today, Pink Shirt Day has grown into a global anti-bullying movement.
2SLGBTQ+ youth are strongly impacted by bullying and harassment from their peers. Pink Shirt Day serves as an important reminder of how harmful the impacts of bullying can be. Today, people in nearly 180 countries take part in Pink Shirt Day. This annual event has helped raise over 3 million dollars for anti-bullying programs globally.
