📣Attention ladies!!!📣 Join us for a beginners self defence class as well as some basic taekwondo techniques. You can plan on a mild workout with some stretching and moving (not too strenuous). You will get a chance to practice some kicks, punches on the pads and learn some wrist escapes. Wear your workout gear and comfy sneakers (or barefeet). Your instructor, Shanice, is a second-degree black belt and co-instructor of taekwondo right here in Woodstock. However, this class is for everyone, no experience neccessary. Horizon wishes to inform the public that labour and birth services will be temporarily unavailable at Horizon’s Upper River Valley Hospital (URVH) from Thursday, Apr. 9 at 8 p.m. until Monday, Apr. 20 at 8 a.m.

All pregnant individuals who would normally deliver their babies at URVH will need to travel to Horizon’s Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital (DECRH) or Vitalité’s Edmundston Regional Hospital (ERH), whichever is closest.

The reason for this change is due to a temporary lack of available operating room nurses, as well as surgical and anesthesiology coverage to provide emergency caesarian sections (C-sections).

Even if a pregnant individual feels they are low-risk and do not require a C-section, they must still travel to the DECRH or ERH for labour and birth, as pregnancy-related issues and emergency situations can quickly arise during childbirth.

All individuals in the URVH service area who are 35 weeks pregnant and over are being contacted by nursing staff.

Horizon understands this temporary change will require additional travel for expectant families in the Upper River Valley area, and we sincerely appreciate their patience and understanding.

Le Réseau de santé Horizon tient à informer la population que les activités des services de travail et d’accouchement seront temporairement suspendues à l’Hôpital du Haut de la Vallée (HHV) du Réseau de santé Horizon du jeudi 9 avril à 20 h jusqu’au lundi 20 avril à 8 h du matin.

Durant cette période, les accouchements qui auraient normalement lieu à l’Hôpital du Haut de la Vallée auront plutôt lieu à l’Hôpital régional Dr Everett Chalmers (HRDEC) du Réseau de santé Horizon, à Fredericton, ou à l’Hôpital régional d’Edmundston (HRE) du Réseau de santé Vitalité, selon la distance à parcourir.

Ce réacheminement des services doit avoir lieu en raison d’un manque temporaire d’infirmières et infirmiers de salle d’opération disponibles et parce qu’aucun chirurgien et aucun anesthésiologiste ne sera disponible pour effectuer des césariennes d’urgence durant la période visée.

Puisqu’un problème lié à la grossesse ou qu’une situation d’urgence peut survenir rapidement au cours d’un accouchement, même les personnes qui ont une grossesse à faible risque et qui ne pensent pas avoir besoin d’une césarienne devront se rendre à l’Hôpital régional Dr Everett Chalmers ou à l’Hôpital régional d’Edmundston pour le travail et l’accouchement.

Le personnel infirmier des services de travail et d’accouchement communique avec toutes les personnes enceintes qui vivent dans le territoire servi par l’HHV et qui en sont à 35 semaines de grossesse ou plus.

Horizon comprend que ce changement temporaire aux services entraînera des déplacements supplémentaires pour les personnes enceintes de la région du Haut de la Vallée et leur famille, et l’organisation les remercie sincèrement de leur patience et de leur compréhension.
