Huge thank you to our co-facilitators, Keisha, Abby and Karen, as we launched the new Oxford County Grief Support Group for Children and Teens. The children painted flower pots and planted grass seed to visualize Tonkin’s model of Grief, “Growing Around Grief” (1996). To physically illustrate that grief does not just disappear, it remains the same (like a flower pot), but life grows around the grief (like the growth of grass).

Groups run on Mondays from 6-8 pm:
Ages 6-9: 2nd Monday of the month
Ages 10-13: 3rd Monday of the month
Ages 14-17: 4th Monday of the month

Our theme today at the Adult Day Program in Ingersoll 💙 was back to school! We spent the morning reminiscing of our favourite school day memories, played one of our favourite games ladder ball in gym class before going to science class! Sakura House is holding Labyrinth Community Drop in Walks every Thursday at 6-7 PM from Sept 11 to Oct 30, weather permitting. Please join us at the Sakura House Labyrinth on the south lawn. Exciting Announcement from VON Oxford: Launching VON Healing Hands 💙
We are thrilled to introduce VON Healing Hands, a NEW bereavement program designed specifically for Kids and Youth.
Healing Hands will commence on September 8th, 2025. The program will cater to three different age groups, meeting once a month in a face-to-face group setting. Each session will focus on a specific theme aimed at addressing questions and concerns related to grief, incorporating activities and creative expression around the grieving process. Special holiday events will also be included to support participants during particularly challenging times of the year.

September is World Alzheimer’s Month, a time to raise awareness, challenge stigma and support those living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.
At VON, our Adult Day Programs create comfort and connection for people with dementia, cognitive impairment, chronic illness or physical challenges. We also provide caregivers with vital resources, respite and support as they navigate this journey with their loved ones. 💙
