The Woodstock Slammers return to action following the Christmas break as they face Universel Québec on the road in divisional play. Slammer fans will notice several new faces when the team hits the ice in January.

The Slammers have signed Slovakian forward Sam Bohos, who previously played with the Elmira Aviators of the NAHL earlier this season. Woodstock also acquired forward Sam Roteman from the Thunder Hockey Club in exchange for defenseman Matt Katsoulis. In addition, the Slammers added defenseman Alexander Gubanov from Krasnaya Armiya Moskva. Prior to the break, Woodstock also acquired Slovakian defenseman Martin Kozak from the Rock Springs Miners.

Head Coach Jason Tatanic commented on the recent acquisitions:

“Bohos is a strong forward who possesses a good skill set and competes hard. In Gubanov, we are adding a defenseman who recorded 23 points in 38 games in Russia’s top junior league. Roteman is a two-way forward who will help us on both sides of the puck. Kozak is a mobile defenseman who moves the puck very well and defends effectively.”

Bohos, Roteman and Kozak will play tonight and Gubanov is expected to play on Saturday night.
