So when was the last time you gave yourself the space to slow down and really listen to what your mind and body are trying to tell you?

Do you consider intentionally disconnecting a luxury, or a necessity?

Even when our minds tell us it's selfish to take a break, our bodies will always remind us otherwise.

We get so caught up in the constant pace of life that we forget what it feels like to live in the present moment, to move with intention, and to see ourselves clearly.

Gros Morne is here to help you change that.

Because when you're surrounded by the vast mountain ranges and fresh ocean air, your perspective immediately changes.

The quiet brings the clarity you need to understand what our bodies are truly asking for.

Let’s talk about reflection! Reflection is a major part of our retreats and of the healing process in general.

Reflection helps us to understand our thoughts, attitudes, motivations, desires, and emotions. It is beneficial to better understand ourselves, develop our emotional intelligence, and improve our decision making!

So how do we reflect?
Reflection is just thinking deeply and evaluating thoughts, feelings, behaviours, or mindsets. There is no one way that works for everyone. You can journal, draw, paint, write poetry or stories, or even meditate. Reflection can be whatever you want it to be so long as you identify what it is you are reflecting on, describe it, analyze the emotions that came with it, evaluate the experience, and plan for the next time that it happens.

The most important part of reflection is that you are kind to yourself, and stay patient in the process. Change takes time, but you are capable and you will get there!

It is important to also reflect on the good within our lives. We should be able to recognize and accept all emotions into our lives. Reflection is not all about negative thoughts, behaviours, attitudes, or motivations. It is just as important to focus on the good thought patterns, feelings, desires, and motivations that we have within our lives. Reflecting on the good helps us become more aware of what we would usually take for granted or not notice.

There’s no better place to take time for you and your reflection than right here in Gros Morne National Park. Click the link in our bio for more information on Transform Gros Morne Nature Retreats!

Fire holds a transformative and dynamic energy. It symbolizes power, passion, assertiveness, motivation, and the ability to create and destroy.

Like fire we have the ability to create beautiful things in our lives and the ability to destroy the parts that are holding us back. When a log becomes ash it no longer fuels the flame; likewise when we let go of what no longer serves us, it is no longer taking energy away from that which truly matters in our lives.
Through fire we can learn that we have the power to hold this assertiveness over our lives.

Fire teaches us that we have the ability to transform and grow. We have the ability to change and progress throughout our lives! So come and learn how to be the fire within your own life and experience a life changing transformation here at Transform Gros Morne!

Water symbolizes adaptability, purification, nurturing, fluidity, strength, spiritual growth and healing.

We can learn from the water how to adapt to the changes within our lives and the transformation process. Facing and adapting to change is a key component to this process.
Water teaches us to cleanse the parts of ourselves that are holding us back from healing through nurturing the parts that we have neglected.

Throughout this retreat we will learn that we are strong, flexible with whatever life throws at us, and that we all have the power to make the change that we want to see in ourselves and in our lives.

To accomplish this we need to become comfortable with letting our emotions flow however they wish to flow. Emotional release is a lot like water; sometimes it remains calm and collected and other times it creates huge waves. No matter what state, the water is beautiful, and so are you and your soul! Once our emotions flow through us we can reflect on them and adapt to the information that we have!

There is no better place to experience the healing capacities of water like the beautiful island of Newfoundland!

The element Earth embodies stability, strength, security, and physical reality. Earth offers us a sense of belonging and connection to the world around us in the present moment. Earth is associated with nurturing, fertility, and the cycle of life and death.

So why is this an important focus for our retreats at Transform Gros Morne?

We begin the retreat with a focus on Earth as it will provide us with a solid foundation for the week of transformation that lies ahead. We will gain a sense of security, stability, and connectedness, allowing us to lay our roots deep into each moment that we experience through the retreat. Connecting us to the moment, providing us with the stability through the difficulty of healing, and producing a sense of stability throughout our transformation.
We can learn from the Earth to nurture ourselves through this transformative process. Like the Earth, we will create new life within ourselves and we will say goodbye to the things that no longer serve us!

Want to experience the work of this element for yourself? Transform Gros Morne is the perfect place to reconnect!

Comment EARTH below and we will message you with more details about the amazing transformative experience that lies ahead🌎

Here’s how having feet in Newfoundland shifts your entire mindset…

🍎We change our diets to feel better in our bodies.
🏃‍♀️We carve out time to train when we want to get stronger.
🤓We study, we stretch, we invest—when we want to grow in our careers.
🤷🏼‍♀️So why do we treat burnout like something that’ll just… disappear?

The truth is: stress will never resolve itself.
It doesn’t vanish after one nap, one massage, or one rushed vacation.
Real change—lasting nervous system relief—requires intention. A mindset shift.

And one of the best ways to kickstart the change? A completely new environment.

That’s where Gros Morne comes in.
Out here on Newfoundland’s west coast, life runs slower.
The people move with presence.
The land invites you to stop, breathe, and finally hear yourself think.
And when you give yourself permission to enjoy 7 full days here, moving your body, eating nourishing food and feeling the ocean air in your lungs.
To reconnect—with nature, with like-hearted men and women, and with yourself…

That’s when things REALLY begin to shift.
Sound like something you could use this summer?

Introducing Transform Gros Morne’s 7-Day Retreat

💥Our next group runs September 7th – 13th right here in Gros Morne, Newfoundland.

Includes: Mountainside yoga, guided national park hikes, forest therapy, sound healing sessions, nourishing home-cooked meals, cozy accommodations, and the space to remember who you are beneath the burnout.

Comment “READY” and we’ll send you the full details. ⛰️

The Newfoundland accent is the most unique in Canada

Some say it sounds Irish, others say pirate, and half the time even locals are translating for each other 😅

Rooted in Irish, English, Scottish, and French influences, the dialect here has evolved over generations of storytelling, outport life, and salt-air resilience.

So if you’re planning a trip to Gros Morne—or just want to sound like you belong—here are 5 local sayings you might hear (and what they actually mean)👇

Because out here, language isn’t just how we talk—it’s how we connect.

And if you’re lucky, you just might leave with a few of these in your own vocabulary.

💬 Which one’s your favourite? Heard any of these before? Drop it in the comments!

Thinking about travelling to Gros Morne but not sure where to start? You're not alone!

Newfoundland is one of the most breathtaking places in Canada—but because it’s remote, a lot of first-time visitors have no idea what to expect when it comes to planning a trip. That’s why we’re answering the top five most commonly asked questions about visiting The Rock—especially the west coast and Gros Morne.

We answered the top three in a pervious post and have the last two below.

Tara hosted a webinar on Thursday going into detail about all things Gros Morne. If you missed it and want to watch the replay comment 'replay' below and we will send it to you.

🌊 4. What’s the best time of year to visit?

That is a challenging question as there is something to enjoy about every time.
🌼Spring -  (Mid May - end of June )- The park is waking up after it’s snowy slumber. Beautiful spring foliage like Marsh Marigolds are in bloom and there is a renewing energy in the air.
☀️Summer (July–August) are the most popular, with warm weather and long daylight hours.
🍂 Fall - (September - October) is underrated—the colors are stunning, the crowds thin out and the weather is perfect for hiking
❄ Winter- (January - April )- It is a totally different experience. Picture post card beauty and a amazing place for snowshoeing, skiing and snow mobiling.

💡 5. What’s something first-time visitors always wish they knew?
That Newfoundland is bigger, wilder, and more remote than they expected. Planning a trip here isn’t like booking a weekend in Banff or Tofino—you need to understand ferry schedules, flight routes, and weather patterns.
That’s why if you’re traveling to Gros Morne in 2025, you’ll want advice from someone who knows the island inside and out.

Thinking about traveling to Gros Morne but not sure where to start? You’re not alone.

And if you’re planning to visit in 2025, you’re going to want to save this post. Today I answer 1-3 and tomorrow I will post 4 and 5.

🌿 1. How do you actually get to Gros Morne?

Most visitors fly into Deer Lake Regional Airport (YDF), which is about an hour’s drive from the park. You can also fly into St. John’s and drive across the island—but be prepared for an 8-hour road trip (with some incredible stops along the way).

🚗 2. Do you need a car to explore?

Yes. Public transit isn’t a thing here, and neither is Uber. Gros Morne is spread out, with multiple communities and hiking trails across the park. A rental car will give you the freedom to fully experience the area without stress. OR you can book a Retreat with Transform Gros Morne where every worry is taken away, you don’t have to worry about a thing, except looking out for moose.

🏕 3. How long should you stay?

To really take in Gros Morne, 3-7 days is ideal. That gives you time for a boat tour through the fjords, a hike up the Tablelands and plenty of quiet moments by the ocean. If you’re doing a longer Newfoundland trip, you’ll want at least 14 days to experience the island properly.

Come back tomorrow for questions 4 & 5
