The start to this week feeling a little harder than most? Today is commonly known as Blue Monday, the third Monday of the New Year which tends to be a very hard day for many people

Why does this phenomenon happen? Post holiday come down, struggling with resolutions and relentless cold weather can all be contributing factors to the slowest Monday of the year

Some of our tricks to getting through today include

1. Keep expectations low - take it easy today, just making it out of bed is a win in our books

2. Connect with someone you love - even if it’s just a 2 minute phone call, feeling connected with someone can make a huge difference to your mood

3. Get to bed early - sleep is a major factor in combatting depressive symptoms

4. Treat yourself - today is the day to splurge on lunch, that extra coffee or dinner so you don’t have to worry about the cooking and clean up

5. Movement - a gentle stretch after work, taking the stairs, or hitting the gym can all be incredibly beneficial in boosting endorphins and feel good chemicals in the brain and body!
