Core strength and endurance are critical to a functional, athletic, pain-free body. A properly conditioned core necessitates challenges in all planes of motion, including frontal, sagittal, and transverse, which goes beyond mere ab crunches that only address one plane of motion. Leg training sequence:

1. forward to reverse lunge walk
2. modified pistol squat
3. step up to single leg balance
4. dynamic jump to squat

Try this, with a short 60 second rest between each segment of the routine.

Canada remains in the medal hunt in Olympic women's rugby sevens after downing host France 19-14 in Monday's quarterfinals.

It should be a blast!  I only wish I could be there to watch our power house Canadian women take on their season rivals ...

It should be a blast!

I only wish I could be there to watch our power house Canadian women take on their season rivals along with this season's repechage winner China.

Although they have been allocated to a tough pool, our Canadian women have topped their pools throughout the 2024 Seven Series, they have what it takes to medal on the world stage.

Go Canada go!!!

With the line-up now complete in the men’s and women’s competitions, the pools for rugby sevens at the Olympic Games Paris 2024 have been confirmed for what promises to be a coming-of-age tournament for the sport on the global stage.

HUGE congratulations goes out to our Canadian Rugby Sevens women for once again making it to the semi-finals at the HSBC Sevens series in Madrid Spain! Our Canadian women continue to do the rugby community and Canada proud, finishing 5 for the 2024 season in the standings.

Biggest kudos to Carissa Norsten being awarded HSBC rookie of the year from team Canada.

One of my favs during most of my leg training days. The Bulgarian Split Squat, with weight and then for even greater challenge, a weighted BSS with added resistance.

What is better than leg day? Surpassing your PR! Having worked through physical setbacks, injury and scheduling I've achieved my goal of breaking that 160 lb squat. 180 lbs today.

At 66 years of age, with all those inevitable age related physiologic changes, these goals become more challenging. I love the challenge!

For those of us fitness 'purists', yes, the form could be better. That will be my goal over the next couple of weeks before working toward the next PR.

One of today's leg-glute routine. Bulgarian Split Squat (weighted), into BSS with resistance. LOVE this addendum to my squats which were done earlier. Thoughts? Having a video of myself is great for assessing form .... this could be better executed.
