Aircraft Underwater Egress is open for registration! Training is running in on May 29 from 9 am to 4 pm. Students will learn and practice egress skills in a pool environment, guided by instructors using two different multi seat airframe simulators. Scenarios are designed to build confidence and progress in difficulty as the students comfort level increases. This training is comprised of:
Half day in-class theory training and half day practical in-pool training.

This 5 day camp aims to introduce youth to conservation and safe practices that will help develop closer relationships with nature so that we can ensure that the next generation will be safe and responsible custodians of the land. Students will learn fundamental outdoor skills in a safe, fun, and controlled environment with 2 of our expert instructors. The following courses are included:

☑️Youth First Aid
Students will learn the basics of first aid skills such as ABCs, CPR-C, AED, bandaging, and more.
☑️Wildlife Awareness
Students will learn about the dangers of wildlife in the north, what to do in a wildlife encounter, and non-lethal intervention methods (in-ert bear spray, bear bangers, etc).
☑️Hiking and Navigation
Students will go on a local hike and learn the fundamentals of land navigation.
☑️Camp Craft
Students will learn the basics of setting up a camp and fire craft (fire advisory permitting).

Camp will run from 9 am to 5 pm each day. Students must bring their own water, lunch, and snacks each day. Age requirement is 12 – 15 years old.

Swiftwater Safety & Rescue training is open for registration! This program is ideal training for individuals working, traveling, or playing in and around rivers. Dry land training provides in-depth analysis of river features, morphology, and hazards, an overview of the effects of cold water on the human body and related first aid skills, safety equipment options, principles of rescue, and basic rescue techniques.

Practical training challenges candidates to become comfortable at reading river features, identifying safe routes for wading, swimming, and paddling through rapids, all while maintain heightened situational awareness.

Rescue techniques practiced include talk rescues, throw-bagging, mechanical advantage systems, strong swimmer rescuers, and techniques for quickly and safely dealing with specific hazards such as strainers, sweepers, hydraulics, and foot entrapments.

Predator Defense with Fi****ms Handling is a 16 hour course designed to minimize negative interactions between people and wildlife. This program is also considered as entry level training for persons seeking employment as Bear Monitors. While defense of people is always the highest priority in any wildlife encounter, this training strives to minimize stress, injury and death of wildlife through situational awareness, knowledge and pre-planning and skills.

We are still looking for a part time content creator! The Content Creator role is critical to our marketing program. As our operations grow, we are increasingly using social media as part of our advertising efforts. The Content Creator will support our Marketing Coordinator by taking videos and photos of courses, services, and staff. Secondary roles will include developing content ideas, marketing strategies, and advertising materials alongside the Marketing Coordinator.

Responsibilities

Take photos and videos of projects taking place at Arctic Response, working with instructors and administrators in-person and while staff are on the road
Edit videos and photos for posting
Collaborate with the Marketing Coordinator on content, marketing strategy, and advertising materials
Ensure content is being obtained in a safe way, in line with Arctic Response safety policies for training and operations
Additional tasks as required

We are hiring a full time Field Instructor in Yellowknife! As a Field Instructor, your primary role would be delivering a wide range of field safety and first aid training programs to client groups in Yellowknife, throughout the Northwest Territories, and anywhere else our work takes us. When not teaching, administrative functions may include course and curriculum development, equipment maintenance, logistical planning, and/or operational taskings (wildlife monitoring, medic services, etc.) commensurate with qualifications and abilities. Though delivering field safety and first aid programs are the primary functions of this position, instructors are also expected to develop the capacity to instruct programs in other areas, such as industrial safety.

Responsibilities

Prepare and deliver a broad range of field safety and first aid training programs

Support ongoing refinement of existing programs

Support the development of new training curriculum and materials

Support marketing and business development efforts

Maintenance of training equipment and materials

Provide operational services to clients (wildlife monitoring, medic services, etc.) commensurate with qualifications and abilities

Traveling (independently or with colleagues) to remote locations throughout the Canadian North

Feline First Aid is open for registration! You will learn: what to do if different poisonous plants or toxins make it into your pet’s stomach, how to stabilize many different injuries, clearing your pet’s airway in the event of choking, and how to preform CPR on a cat.
We will teach you how to stabilize your pet until they are able to be taken to/see by a veterinarian.
