Aircraft Underwater Egress is open for registration! Students will learn and practice egress skills in a pool environment, guided by instructors using two different multi seat airframe simulators. Scenarios are designed to build confidence and progress in difficulty as the students comfort level increases. This training is comprised of approximately half day theory training and half day practical in-pool training.

Snowmobile Safety & Operations is open for registration! Training runs March 30-31 from 9 am to 5 pm each day in Yellowknife. Snowmobile Safety and Operations develops planning, awareness, and riding skills of candidates of any experience level who operate a snowmobile for work or recreation. Practical exercises allow candidates to progressively increase their comfort and ability to ride under various conditions, and to deal with unexpected emergencies. Content includes a review of applicable laws, regulations, and bylaws, company specific policies, pre-trip planning, basic user maintenance and troubleshooting, loading and unloading from a trailer, safe riding techniques, emergency maneuvers, assessment of terrain hazards, and the essentials of winter survival.

Equipment: Candidates must provide their own snowmobile and Department of Transportation (DOT) approved helmet.

Ice Safety and Rescue training is open for registration! Training is running in Yellowknife on March 26 - 27 from 9 am to 5 pm each day.

Ice Safety and Rescue is tailored to the real-world conditions and limited resources of researchers, exploration crews, environmental monitors and others who work on ice. The classroom portion of this training assists clients to develop and refine their Task Hazard Analysis tools and Safe Work Procedures, become intimately familiar with their provided equipment and consider new technologies and procedures. The field portion of the training engages candidates in safe, controlled, and authentic through-the-ice drills and scenarios covering self-rescues, talk rescues, rope and reaching aid rescues, boat rescues, and strong swimmer rescues, as well as practical mechanical advantage systems employing ropes and pulleys for casualty retrieval.

Wilderness First Aid trains the candidate with a better understanding of the patients critical systems of the body: skeletal, nervous, cardiovascular, endocrine and muscular. As well, the rescuer must learn to factor and deal with delayed rescue, environmental conditions, limited resources, and multiple casualties. This training is appropriate for people driving between remote communities as it is for people working on the land.

Class is running in Yellowknife from March 30 - April 1. Registration is $750 + GST.

We are hiring a part time Content Creator. The Content Creator role is critical to our marketing program. As our operations grow, we are increasingly using social media as part of our advertising efforts. The Content Creator will support our Marketing Coordinator by taking videos and photos of courses, services, and staff. Secondary roles will include developing content ideas, marketing strategies, and advertising materials alongside the Marketing Coordinator.

Responsibilities

Take photos and videos of projects taking place at Arctic Response, working with instructors and administrators in-person and while staff are on the road
Edit videos and photos for posting
Collaborate with the Marketing Coordinator on content, marketing strategy, and advertising materials
Ensure content is being obtained in a safe way, in line with Arctic Response safety policies for training and operations
Additional tasks as required

Requirements

Strong computer skills
Experience developing social media content, including familiarity with Meta platforms
Organized and detail oriented
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Works well in a fast-paces environment
Reliable, professional, and punctual
Able to manage job tasks with minimal direct supervision
Able to collaborate in a team environment

Preferred Requirements:

Previous experience as a content creator or social media coordinator will be considered an asset.
