Meet Anne-Marie — a part of the Taiga community since 2010, she brings over 20 years of practice and more than 2,000 hours of teaching experience to her classes. With certifications in Hatha, Prana Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative, Yoga Tune Up, and mat Pilates, Anne-Marie has trained with renowned teachers and schools across Canada and beyond.

Her teaching focuses on the practical side of yoga: keeping the body strong and healthy while supporting the nervous system in finding balance. With a thoughtful and exploratory approach, she adapts yoga to individual needs—helping students discover the movements and shapes that bring healing, comfort, and resilience.

Meet Shayla — a certified yoga teacher and nurse with over 10 years of experience in healthcare, dedicated to promoting holistic wellness. Yoga began as a personal practice for her in 2020, becoming a healing space for her mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. Over time, her practice evolved into a deep passion, inspiring her to complete her 200hr YTT in Guatemala in 2023 and continue with a 100hr Yin & Restorative training through Tofino Yoga in 2024. Shayla’s heart lies in teaching gentle Hatha, Yin, and Restorative yoga, offering a calm and nurturing environment for others to reconnect with themselves.

Yin Yoga invites stillness, softness, and acceptance—offering an essential balance to the intensity of yang energy. In this slow-paced class, shapes are held for 3–5 minutes with the support of props, applying gentle, persistent pressure to nourish the deep fascia and connective tissues. This practice promotes mobility, strength, and detoxification in the body’s deeper foundational structures. We slow down and tune in, bringing deep awareness and energetic harmony to body and mind.

At Taiga Yoga we aim to make yoga relevant and accessible to everyone and to teach in a respectful manner that is appropriate to both time and place, acknowledging the attributes of Western and Eastern philosophy.

We strive to offer a safe and comfortable setting in which you can fully relax. Our schedule offers a wide range of classes for all levels. As northerners we must acknowledge and adapt to the changes that occur in our external environment throughout the year. Taiga Yoga classes will reflect these changes – more Yin like (cooler and calmer) in winter, more Yang like (hotter and more active) in summer.

Taiga Yoga & Therapy Centre provides SAD lighting to lighten your mood during the darkest months, a yoga reference resource, herbal teas and complimentary therapies.
