The Action Group has lost a great friend and supporter, Anke Tuininga. Anke was one of our sage faciltators for the Art of Healing, psychosocial programs using art as a way to discuss the cancer journey for NWT women. We send our deepest condolences to her very dear family and many, many friends.

Introducing the Evalyn Brush, the self-sampling Human Papillomavirus (HPV) test.

This quick and easy test can be done at any health centre, health cabin, public health or primary care clinic, or in the comfort of your own home.

Individuals with symptoms of cervical cancer, or who are pregnant or using a pessary, should speak to their healthcare provider about whether HPV self-sampling is right for them.

January is Cervical Cancer Month. Get informed. Get screened. Get vaccinated. For more information on cervical cancer screening in the NWT, visit our website:

The Action Group Board would like to share our Winter Solstice greetings with you. May you find the time to dance in the returning light, see the magic in the stillness of this blanket of snow, breathe slowly, and share joy with the ones you love.

"... This is the solstice, the still point in the sun;
Its cusp and midnight;
The year's threshold and unlocking when the past
let's go and becomes the future..."
~Margaret Atwood~

A big Wednesday Wahoo!! to our collaborator on the the Text Me Healthy research project, Dr. Anna Singleton, University of Sydney (Australia). Dr. Singleton has recently been awarded the Early Career Researcher of the Year by the International Psychosocial Oncology Society (IPOS).

The award ceremony took place in November at the IPOS World Congress in November.

The Action Group could not think of a more deserving person for this award and know intimately, her commitment to supporting women with cancer. We are very grateful for her guidance, patience, knowledge and the shared laughter over the years getting the Text Me Healthy project on its feet.
