I Do Therapy

I Do Therapy Whether you're looking to strengthen your relationship, overcome conflicts, or ach Welcome!

At I Do Therapy, we provide compassionate and expert guidance to help individuals, couples, and families navigate life’s challenges, including anxiety, depression and more. My name is Anansia (pronounced A-nan-sa)

I’m a therapist who believes healing doesn’t have to feel heavy all the time, it can also be about laughter, connection, and learning to love yourself and others in new ways. With a Mas

ter of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University and over 10 years of experience in the mental health and social service fields, I help individuals, couples, and families heal from generational trauma, strengthen their relationships, and step into new chapters of life with confidence. Wedding counseling is one of my favorite specialties, because what better time to build a strong foundation than when you’re starting (or restarting) your forever? My career has taken me from supervising at a youth treatment center, to helping families in the Northwest Territories stay connected, to supporting individuals in Florida navigating substance use and court-mandated therapy. These experiences taught me that healing looks different for everyone, but connection, whether to yourself or others, is always at the heart of it. On a personal note, I’ve been happily married for 7 years, and my own marriage has given me a deep appreciation for the beauty, challenges, and growth that relationships bring. Beyond therapy, I’m a big foodie, a little bit quirky, and I love trying new things. You can usually catch me dancing it out in a Soca fitness class, watching relationship and dating shows (yes, I probably have opinions on every season), or hanging out with my siblings, nieces, and nephews, who I absolutely adore. I’m fun-loving but not afraid to challenge perspectives, and I bring that same energy into the therapy space, supportive, real, and full of heart. Current Endeavors
I’m gearing up to begin my PhD in Counseling with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy at Barry University in Miami Fall 2026. This next step is part of my commitment to deepening my expertise in couples and family work, so I can continue empowering others to break cycles, strengthen their relationships, and create new legacies of love and connection

Are you arguing with your partner… or with your past?

So many couples I work with aren’t just struggling with their relationship—they’re carrying the weight of childhood wounds into their marriage. The need to be heard, validated, and understood often stems from unhealed experiences with caregivers. And without realizing it, those unmet needs get projected onto a spouse.

This is where Imago Therapy comes in. Through mirroring, validation, and deep empathy, we strip away the layers of past pain so you and your partner can truly hear each other. No more repeating old patterns. No more misdirected resentment. Just healing, connection, and real communication.

If you’re ready to break the cycle and build a stronger, healthier relationship, book a session with me today. Let’s do the work—together.

Most of you are likely familiar with the concept of the five different love languages that we exhibit as human beings. However, did you know that there are also five apology languages? The creators of these languages, Gary Chapman & Jennifer Chapman, identified five ways in which people both receive and provide apologies:

1. Accepting responsibility- “I was wrong”
2. Expressing regret- “I apologize”
3. Making a plan for change- “I’ll stop (specific behaviour) to ensure it won’t happen again”
4. Requesting forgiveness- “Will you please forgive me”
5. Making restitution- “What can I do to make it right”

Understanding your apology language can significantly impact how you navigate particular situations. It’s crucial to contemplate what you seek from an individual when they apologize to you. Is a simple “I’m sorry” sufficient, or do you require something more? Reflecting on this can initiate personal growth and enhance relationships. By understanding how someone apologizes to you, you gain insight into their approach, enabling you to express your needs more effectively.

Take the apology quiz at 5lovelanguages.com to discover your apology language! 💬✨

A client once shared this with me, and it hit me deeply-I couldn’t help but feel a wave of emotion wash over me.

In our childhood, we all crave connection, love, and the feeling of being heard and wanted. How we experience these needs during those formative years directly impacts how we show up in adulthood and how we process our emotions.

For many, it’s hard to even identify their feelings because they’ve learned to survive by building walls to protect themselves.

Healing starts when we begin breaking down those walls. Generational cycles can be broken, and wounds that have kept us stuck for so long can finally start to heal.

Even if I’m not your therapist, find someone who you connect with, someone who can help you be vulnerable and begin the release process. You deserve it. You deserve to feel like you’re somebody-not just to others, but to yourself too. 💕

💍 Valentine’s Day is around the corner, and love is in the air! Many couples are getting engaged-how exciting! 🎉 But before saying “I do,” have you done the necessary work?

Here are 3 essential questions to ask before taking the next step:

1️⃣ Are We Financially Aligned?💰
2️⃣ Do We Share a Vision for Our Future? 🌍
3️⃣ Are We Emotionally Prepared for Marriage? ❤️

Marriage isn’t just a fairytale, takes hard work, sacrifice, and consistency to maintain. Think of it like the gym: growing pains, stretching, building resistance, and training your heart. If you stop putting in the effort, things start to decline. Maintenance is key!

✨ Keep checking in, keep growing, because the wedding is not the marriage. 💕
