Proudly offering registered Massage and Manual Osteopathic Therapy services in Yellowknife, NT. With over 3,000 hours training and education with Honours and 6 years working experience, my goals have transformed from simply wanting to reduce the pain and discomfort of others to actually achieving reversal of dysfunction while restoring optimal wellness and health as quickly and fully as possible.

I achieve this through proven hands-on scientifically based techniques, one-on-one therapy, and individualized treatment plans designed for each client. I aim to work together with my clients to understand what ails them and why, so that they may take an active approach in reaching full recovery. Did you know R.I.C.E (rest, ice, compression, elevation) was withdrawn in 2014 by the very Doctor that first coined the term? Most of its components are now known to impair or delay healing by inhibiting the inflammation which serves a necessary role in recovery.⁣

More recently the PEACE and LOVE approach has been coined to guide the treatment of acute and chronic injuries:⁣

💙Protection: avoid painful movements and activities in the first few days, continuing gentle active movement to tolerance.⁣
💙Elevation: if desired to assist with swelling and pain.⁣
💙Avoid ice & anti-inflammatories: these restrict healing and may further damage the tissue.⁣
💙Compression: if desired to assist with swelling, pain and function.⁣
💙Education: your body knows best; avoid unnecessary passive treatments and medical investigations and take steps to gain confidence in your body’s ability to heal.⁣

💙Load: challenge the area with greater and varied movement, allowing pain to be your guide and tell you when it’s safe to progress.⁣
💙Optimism: condition your brain for optimal recovery.⁣
💙Vascularization: increase blood flow to the area with pain free cardiovascular activities.⁣
💙Exercise: restore mobility, strength, and proprioception with an active approach to recovery.⁣

If you still find yourself reaching for the ice in desperate need of pain relief, try to keep application to no more than 5 minutes to avoid prolonging recovery. If effective for pain management, choose pain-relievers over NSAIDs. Feel confident getting back to activity sooner, challenging into greater tolerance and comfort.⁣

And if you’re wondering how a protocol debunked 10 years ago is still making its rounds as the prime advice in the healthcare field - begin to question the narrative. Let’s take an active approach to healing, arm ourselves with knowledge and confidence, and give our bodies the support to feel and function at their best!⁣

Don’t do it, don’t suggest it.

Do educate your clients on the potential harms, and tell them to move their bodies for the most efficient relief.

“Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are the most widely used analgesics to treat inflammatory pain. Despite their efficacy, recent studies show that NSAID use in early acute pain can prolong pain and inflammation and delay their resolution. We suggest using analgesics without inflammation-related properties in early acute pain instead of NSAIDs.”
