Stay up to date on recommended childhood vaccinations.

Measles is a serious and highly contagious disease. So contagious that if one person has it, 9 out of 10 people around them will catch it if not vaccinated. For most people who get it, it will cause a fever, cough, conjunctivitis and a rash. But for some it can also lead to pneumonia and/or encephalitis (inflammation of the brain). For pregnant women, it can also lead to premature delivery, low birth weight or miscarriage. Vaccination against it is almost 100% effective after 2 doses (the MMRV vaccine recommended at 12 and 18 months of age).

You can book an immunization appointment with your local public health office. And if you or your child missed their dose at the recommended age, now is a great time to catch up.

Are you or someone you know expecting a baby in 2025? The first prenatal classes of the new year will be on January 11th. They are taking registration for it now, so give them a call and get yourself registered!

Thanks to all that came out to the Baby Shower event ~ it was great to see all the little ones! The winner of our Public Health “diaper cake & goodies” was Jennifer M ~ the actual number of diapers was 94!

Our 4th year Nursing Students put together these informational boards ~ take a closer look at each vaccine & why they are so important !

In the month of April everyone who attended an immunization appointment in the Yorkton & rural Public health offices were entered in to win a gift basket ~ stay tuned for pics of some of the winners in the near future !
