Are your muscles feeling tight?

A lot of the time, muscle will get tight as a result of muscular weakness.

For example:

Hip pain (sometimes you will feel snapping in the front of your hip) could be that your hip flexors are weak

Pelvic floor pain: could be a result of a weak pelvic floor

Upper shoulder/neck pain: could be a result of weak upper traps and deep neck flexors

Whichever the muscle that is tight, it could be a due to lack of strength causing the muscle to overwork and tighten.

Suffering from tight muscles?

Summer activities, stress, and muscular imbalances can contribute to tight musculature. If you feel you have tried everything, but nothing seems to be working, I would suggest dry needling.

Dry needling is a technique that uses acupuncture needles to target trigger points and fatigues the muscle to relax. I use this on myself and many of my clients to restore the muscle!

Think you have vertigo?

Vertigo is typically a quick fix condition if it is true vertigo.

A complete assessment to determine, followed by a specific maneuver can help resolve your dizzy spells and make you question why you didn’t seek help sooner.

Fearing movement due to pain?

Mobility is essential, given that immobilization is not needed (e.g. fractured bones). Mobility helps with circulation, avoiding stiffness, and reduce swelling.

Although, too much movement can prolong recovery.

Same can be said for chronic persistent pain. Mobility work helps to train your brain that movement within safe ranges is not “painful”, by consistently bringing your body into these feared movements.

Reminder to listen to your body when finding YOUR pain free ranges!

Why does my scar hurt?

Your tissue has many layers, and so when surgery of any sort occurs, these layers heal not always optimally.

Scar tissue can develop adhesions resulting in the pain you may experience, as well as a puckered look.

Many techniques can be done to desensitize the area and improve the look of the scar.

I have heard the frequent question, “why treat the pelvic floor”?

This has many responses some of which include, but not limited to:

• Pain during in*******se

• Incontinence with stresses to pelvic floor (running, jumping, sneezing, coughing)

• Incontinence with urge (getting close to home and needing to use washroom)

• Preparation for pregnancy and birthing

• Post delivery (vaginal or cesarean)

• Low back, hip, tailbone pain

• Constipation

• Menstrual pain or endometriosis

The list could go on. There is so much that the pelvic floor can tell us about our bodies strength and presenting symptoms.

Hey C-section mommy’s,

Do you think you don’t need pelvic floor rehab because you did not have a vaginal birth?

On the contrary, there is so much that can be done to help strengthen the core, improve pain symptoms, and increase flexibility.

Lacking mobility?

Joint stiffness and decreased flexbility in the muscles could be causing the lack of movement.

With the initial assessment, we take measurements of the range of motion in each joint affected; with this information, I work to improve and increase it through techniques that are appropriate.

On future, follow-ups we will re-assess to assure we are on track to achieving your goals!

Call, text or email to book an initial assessment.

Is the sun and higher temperatures getting you excited to get outside more?

With the warm weather fast approaching, some of us are eager to lace up our shoes and get back to their outdoor sports.

Remember warm up and cool down ARE and ALWAYS WILL BE important to prevent injury.

Strained muscles, aching joints and ligament sprains are amongst the many conditions I treat.

Contact me today if you need an injury addressed.

Core Physio

Why did I start this company?

Well, one of my biggest motives was being able to provide quality, yet, AFFORDABLE care to patients.

The rise of costs, in what seems like every aspect of life, is overwhelming. When I opened Core Physio, I really wanted to keep my costs the same as when I originally started practicing.

Working for myself has allowed me to do this, but still offer excellent care to my pateints.

And yes, my services are able to be submitted to insurance (a receipt is provided after each session).

Low back pain?

A strong correlation is found with a weak pelvic floor and low back pain. Carrying a baby internally for 9 months and then carrying them externally for ‘X’ amount of months can definitely put pressure on your pelvic floor and low back.

Inner unit muscle strengthening and training, as well as stretching and releasing tight muscles can help to alleviate this pain.
