This one was personal.

I’m so proud of my wife’s uncle, Dave Prince, for sharing his incredible 50-year journey with Type 1 diabetes on the Life Shouldn’t Hurt podcast! From the days of boiling syringes and urine tests to today’s high-tech monitors and insulin pumps, Dave’s story is a powerful reminder of how far we’ve come—and how mindset and daily habits can help anyone thrive, no matter the challenges.

He drops some real gems: Turn discipline into routine (it takes thousands of reps, not just 21!), keep moving every day (his walking habit has kept him in top shape at 69), pay attention to your body, and never let a diagnosis define who you are. As he says, managing diabetes is like piloting a plane—you stay vigilant, make adjustments, and reach your destination.

If you or someone you know lives with diabetes, this episode is packed with inspiration, practical tips, and a peek at the future of care. Check it out and let me know what you think!

Discover how Dave Prince has thrived with Type 1 diabetes for over 50 years. In this Life Shouldn’t Hurt podcast episode, Grant Fedoruk shares actionable advice, resilience strategies, and expert tips for living well with diabetes.

At Leading Edge Physiotherapy, we believe in authenticity over accolades. Our commitment lies not in claiming to be the best, but in providing the highest standard of care tailored to each individual’s needs. We understand that every patient’s journey is unique, and our focus is on fostering an environment where trust and collaboration thrive. By prioritizing patient outcomes rather than titles, we cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and compassionate service. This is why our focus isn't on one to one appointments for one hour in a private room, because everyone has different needs and we are busy being attuned to each of you. In doing so, we aim to empower our clients with the tools necessary for lasting recovery. Quality care is our mission, and we’re here to support you every step of the way. In a sea of "World's Best" claims (shout out to Buddy the Elf), we choose to be loud but with ethics and integrity leading the way. This is our compass & it is built on trust. Thanks to Buddy for making this post possible 👇

The Leading Edge Journey

Life Shouldn’t Hurt…Leading Edge Works. Do you need help treating your injury or painful condition in Edmonton or St. Albert? Our skilled and fun-to-be-around physiotherapists are devoted to showing you that we care, in an atmosphere that will make you feel at home. Whether it is a new injury or pain that just won’t go away—we don’t want you to hurt anymore.

At Leading Edge Physiotherapy you aren’t just getting kick a** physiotherapy in Edmonton and St. Albert, you are joining a close knit group of people with whom you may share a portion of your life. We have worked very hard to build the kind of environment that you will want to wake up and come to when you need help. We put every ounce of our time and effort into making our clinics a comfortable, enjoyable and “different” atmosphere. We have done so for one very important reason, and that is to make your life better in some way. We use physiotherapy to help you to feel and perform your best.

An Adventure

If you need help, we invite you to join us on this adventure to see if we can do some of the same old physiotherapy in a new way – bringing amazing treatments, advanced technology and a wicked environment together in a way that people are talking about. We don’t exist without patients who have a goal to achieve. Whether it is running a marathon in under 3 hours, sleeping through the night, walking to the end of the block or being able to put on a pair of shoes without grimacing, our primary goal is to make a difference in your world. To achieve this, we need your help.
