Today we share very sad news.

The teams of Coopera Congo and Mutima – Centre Psychosocial announce the death of our beneficiary Bishweka Ntabidula, which occurred this Saturday, February 7, 2026, in Katana (Chahoboka).

Bishweka was part of our psychosocial support program. His journey, his resilience, and his presence are part of the story of our community.

In the photo, he is pictured alongside our psychologist Diudonné, who regularly visited him together with our psychosocial assistant, Jolie. Their commitment reflects the heart of our mission: going where people are, staying present, and offering human support in fragile and vulnerable contexts.

In regions affected by conflict and instability, every life matters. Every loss is deeply felt.

On behalf of Coopera Congo and Mutima, we extend our sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.

We remain committed to continuing this work — with dignity, courage, and humanity.

We have supported 1,125 families, which represents 5,625 people benefiting, based on an average of five people per family.

The support consisted of basic food supplies (flour, rice, pinto beans, oil, salt, and sugar), combining products brought from Spain with others purchased locally, also strengthening the local economy.

In addition, essential items for daily life were distributed: basins, soaps for personal hygiene and laundry, cooking utensils, blankets, plastic tarpaulins for protection, and children’s clothing.

Behind every number, there are real people.
This is not just aid: it is caring for life with dignity.

Good Afternoon,,

This Tuesday’s group therapy session brought together 51 women, a number higher than usual.

In a context of armed conflict and ongoing insecurity, this strong attendance is an encouraging indicator of community interest in MUTIMA’s services.

Beneficiaries shared with the psychologists that their participation is motivated by the positive testimonies of former participants, demonstrating the real impact of the therapies, following food distributions and door-to-door visits.

To ensure a higher quality of care and effective group management, the group will be divided into two starting from the next sessions:

26 women supported by psy Chuma in the morning

25 women supported by psy Anaïs in the afternoon

Stories from our work in Congo.
Today, we begin planting hope.

Although group therapy with children was already planned, it was the school directors who reached out to us after noticing clear signs of trauma in their students.That says everything about the situation… and about the trust placed in the Mutima team.

Thanks to the support of Mariposa School, we will be able to reach many more children.

Since yesterday, the Mutima Psychosocial Center has begun group psychotherapy sessions with the students of EP Murhanga / Lwiro:

📌 Every Wednesday: group of 25 children
📌 Every Friday: another group of 25 children

Meanwhile, the center continues its routine activities:
psychological care, psychiatric support, and community outreach.

💔 Found beside his mother’s body

In Kavumu (South Kivu), an elderly couple found this little boy alone in the forest.
His mother had been killed two months earlier during the clashes.
They were collecting charcoal when they heard him cry.
No one ever came looking for him.

The man, almost 70, insisted on keeping the child.
His wife, exhausted, takes care of him with the little they have.
They live in a small mud house — too weak to work, with no milk to feed him.

Herman, the psychologist, and James, the psychosocial assistant, made a home visit to teach them how to regulate their nervous system after trauma.
Meanwhile, the rest of the Mutima team is preparing how to support them beyond the humanitarian aid kit they will soon receive:
🍚 food, 🛏️ blankets, 🍲 cooking pots, and 🌧️ plastic sheets for the rain.

Stories that Inspire – Coopera Congo

During one of the home visits carried out by our volunteer psychosocial assistant, we met this remarkable woman: blind and widowed, living in very difficult conditions with the four young children of her daughter who passed away last year.

Despite the pain and hardship, she continues to fight every day, supporting her family with strength, dignity, and love.

Our team wanted to honor her courage and resilience, a true example of perseverance in the face of adversity.

At Coopera Congo and the Mutima Psychosocial Center, we remain committed to accompanying women like her — who remind us that even in the hardest times, hope still has a face and a name. 🌿

💔 This Saturday, amidst clashes between Wazalendo and M23 in Kabulungu, Mr. Cirhagarhula Lugere, aged 54, lost his life. He was one of our beneficiaries.

He was the main provider for his household, responsible for nine people, including six children under 18.

The war continues to claim innocent lives, tearing families apart, leaving orphans, and inflicting wounds beyond measure.

From Coopera Congo and the Mutima Psychosocial Center, we will support his family with food, essential supplies (blankets, cooking pots, plastic sheets for water) and, above all, emotional support so they may find some comfort in the face of this devastating loss.

No one should die because of a war they did not choose. 🕊️
