‎Viable collaboration, partnership and service integration are another critical strategy for viral hepatitis (B,C) elimination.

‎Our unreserved gratitude goes to Dr. Ushie David Edem for giving us yet another critical platform, through the "Beata Mater Charity Foundation" to serve alongside other dedicated and committed health care providers, with specialists drawn from every aspect of the health team of the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital-Calabar, The General Hospital-Ogoja as well as privately practicing healthcare providers.

‎This is not just community service, to us it's a deliberate approach towards hepatitis B and C elimination.

‎There was health education, sensitization, free screening for hepatitis B & C amongst other health checks.
‎Counselling sessions took turns as well as medications to beneficiaries without cost (Free).

‎The benefit of community impact programs like this is that the entire health services are provided for free, without the worry of medical bills. This time, the Beata Mater Charity Foundation covered the cost on behalf of beneficiaries.

Everytime a woman dies, a generation is lost.

On Hepatitis B, both the mother and her baby are at risk!

18/03/2026

‎EVEN DAVID IRINAM HAS HIS INTEREST IN WHAT HE DEMONSTRATES AS A COMMUNITY SERVICE TO THE BEKWARRA NATION AND CROSS RIVER STATE.

‎Yes, there's no free service as we've been made to believe!

‎First, it was part of an MSc research work for a higher degree (his personal gain), then it became an "advocacy campaign" under the sponsorship and collaboration with private citizens (not his funds).

‎Could his interest be part of the standing orders of seeking communal acceptance or recognition?

‎Could it be the seeking of political correctness on behalf of those he acknowledge as sponsors, donors or collaborators?

‎Far be it from me to suppose;

‎✓ What I believe is in the leadership of His Excellency, Senator Dr. Prince Bassey Otu, the Executive Governor of Cross River State, committing to a clear budget and resource allocation to address the public health burden of viral hepatitis B and C.

‎✓ His interest in Cross River North lies with the distinguished Senator, Sen Jarigbe Agom, demonstrating a strong will in legislative intervention on behalf of his constituents (of course, the major burden in the state is rumored to reside in Cross River North).

✓ ‎His interest I see lies heavily on the Member of Parliament, Chief Hon. Peter Akpanke of the Obanliku, Obudu, Bekwarra federal constituency (The Agba's), who share every single cultural identity and are also vulnerable to the same biological and environmental hazards.

✓ ‎His interest in the Bekwarra State Constituency representative, Hon.
Omang Charles Omang is nothing short of escalating the same burden at the State Assembly's sessions. (Bekwarra is privileged to have records, reports and data of work done on this ahead of the 17 LGAs in Cross River State).

✓ ‎Alas, the Honourable Chairman of Bekwarra Local Government council, Hon. Egbung Odama Egbung

Bekwarra citizens suffer a heavy burden, brunt by the scars of an unforgiving biological enemy, one capable of decimating an entire family. There seems to be an upsurge, and this is both avoidable and preventable.

‎I believe like everyone else that David have interests and expectations in all that he does. To deny this fact is to be dishonest to the Bekwarra nation and Cross River State.

‎These interests are clear;

1. Provide support for mass awareness/sensitization campaigns especially at the rural communities

2. Provide medical supplies to our medical facilities for accessible health care and services.

3. Provide vaccines and donate same to the primary health care centers (PHCs), to immunize the uninfected populations.

4. Provide medications and donate same to the primary health care centers (PHCs), or General hospitals to treat those who meet the treatment eligibility criteria.

5. Provide us with a Medical Doctor on your payroll to oversee the medical needs of our clients. (Bekwarra doesn't have a Medical Doctor!).

‎Dear leaders, while we continue to count on your goodwill, we commend your conscience into the hands of God. For if it is in your destiny to come in, may God make this easy for you all.

‎Sincerely,
‎David Irinam,
‎Bekwarra

‎WHAT EXACTLY DO WE NEED TO DO TO GET THE ATTENTION OF OUR ESTEEMED POLITICAL LEADERS???

‎✓ Our dear Chairman of the Bekwarra Council, Hon Egbung Odama Egbung
‎✓ Our Congressman, Hon. Omang Charles Omang Esq.
‎✓ Our Representative of the Federal House of Assembly, Chief Hon. Peter Akpanke
‎✓ Our distinguished Senator, Sen Jarigbe Agom
‎✓ Our dear Commissioner for Finance, Hon. Dr. Michael Odere &
‎✓ The Chief Press Secretary to our dear Executive Governor, Mr. Linus Obogo alongside other Directors, SAs and PAs to the Executive Governor?

‎We have commenced another complimentary medical service in addition to our existing interventions.
‎We had no option as we couldn't do it differently.

‎This time around, when a client presents for checks or something else, every abnormality is hugely suspected to be a sign and symptom against the traditional medical science and individual experiences.

‎✓ When a client has headache-Hepatitis is suspected!
‎✓ When a client has rashes, lost appetite for available food, or even have a mood swing-Hepatitis B is suspected!
‎✓ Having abdominal cramps, travelers diarrhea etc,-Hepatitis B is suspected!.

‎✓ Even when the government doesn't pay salaries on time-Hepatitis B is the prime suspect!😢

‎This is exactly how we feel as affected individuals. .."The self-blame, pity, isolation, rejection, and confusion stemming from stigmatization and discrimination", even from our own families, and health care providers, on the ground of primitive sentiment or inadequate knowledge of what hepatitis B is and what's not.

‎We have been told by a client that a health worker told her that eating from a stainless-steel spoon, or drinking from it's cup can transmit Hepatitis B while eating and drinking from a rubber or plastic utensil doesn't! (Such misinformation).

‎Sincerely, considering the established psychological burden, being an impact of living with such terminal Illness alone is enough for us.

‎To ease this mental burden, as part of our psychosocial support, we now offer complimentary "malaria and typhoid" fever screening (again for free) to some sufferers, just to rule-out the fact that all such symptoms are not just caused by Hepatitis B alone but other non terminal conditions as well.

‎This way, we hope to continue succeeding in bridging the gap between knowledge, awareness, sensitization as we continue to provide free testing to beneficiaries under the sponsorship of private citizens, of whom none are current political office holders just as your distinguished and honourable selves.
‎We appeal to our esteemed leaders holding the respective public offices above to;

‎1. Provide vaccines to be donated to the PHC departments where we will direct those willing (especially high risk families) to go for free or subsidized vaccination.

‎2. Provide medications to be donated to our team or the PHC departments and general hospitals to assist those who need treatments. (Among the most critical needs).

‎If this were about me alone, I would have allowed you dear leaders to rest.

‎However, it's a matter of public interest and should be given priority.
‎Even if not for any reason, at least for the unborn children of pregnant mothers living with Hepatitis B who deserves protection through your kind considerations dear leaders.

‎✓ In whose care do two positive parents leave their four kids behind?
‎✓ Who amongst you will and can bear the brunt of watching your four (4) kids under the medical care of Hepatologist or gastroenterologist?

‎I am deeply sorry if I might have lost my language tonight, but this is what Hepatitis has done to me.😢

‎We all deserve life, we're only victims of circumstances. Many of us were born this way.

‎MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE, HUMANITY FIRST!...

‎Before any further necessary details, I personally don't like the daily outcomes from our laboratory testings. Silence from our dear leaders to us, is considered an "involuntary passive euthanasia" and the effects are always lethal!

‎If it were in my place as it is now, then I introduce Chief Martha Agba PhD as the Pride of Northern Cross River State.

‎Bekwarra was right in naming her "Onyie iritiem 1" (Most compassionate/kindest) of Bekwarra.

‎This is not about the title but the deeds.

‎Chief Martha Agba PhD is found worthy in character and being a community representative myself, I have seen a practical demonstration of her chieftaincy in pacifism, social works, community development and as a social entrepreneur.

‎Yesterday, Bekwarra was a major beneficiary of Chief Martha's benevolence at the famous Ochanja market square and Bekwarra Secondary School.

‎Yes it was a one day event, but as development workers, the value of this day, 17-02-2026, goes down in the history of Bekwarra as one of the most compassionate and significant days in the life of our people; the Bekwarra nation!

‎This can't be forgotten in a hurry.

‎A lone helper from a distant yet nuclear identity. A helper in the time of our most critical needs.

‎It was Just a little touch in the life of everyone in attendance, coupling to become the greatest impact ever witnessed on a single casual-looking yet impactful gestures.
‎Words will fail to describe the events in Bekwarra yesterday but pictures don't lie.

‎I have been in touch with a lot of good people, some give out of their riches and wealth, others give out of their poor selfs; the most significant virtue is the "passion of the giver". This is what Dr. Martha have demonstrated.
‎She has proven that you don't need to have all the gold and silver as a grandeur to give, you only need a giving heart ❤️
‎Yes, it is in the nature of givers to give even when there's nothing to gain in return. This too is true of Dr Martha.

‎INDEED GIVERS GIVE, NOT RICH OR WEALTHY PEOPLE! This is Dr Martha...

‎Dear Chief, it is not in my place on behalf of Bekwarra to thank you, but with deep appreciation to God and expression of our gratitude, we lack words to thank you, we just owe you our sincerest prayers borne out of genuity for your demonstration of love, compassion and selfless giving to our communities.

‎The hepatitis community owes you our prayers and gratitude for identifying with us especially at this darkest moments of our plights.
‎Hope was fading fast away but you made us to see another light coming soon Dear Doctor.

‎Our team Bekwarra hepatitis B Support bears you a medal of honour and compassion for taking the cost of our activities (even for our own people) upon yourself.

‎May you remain steadfast in your call to serve humanity now and always and may God continue to be your portion, as we petition God to meet you at your point of needs.
