It’s taken me years to accept parts of myself and it's still a labor of love. If I’m rushed into seeing, l can' t easily see. If I’m pushed into feeling, I cannot feel. If the light is too bright, I risk going blind. If the time isn't right, I might not ever learn.

Acceptance isn't asking us to submit to a substandard way of being, rather invites us to love our limitations with authenticity. Not by acting out in self-effacing ways because somewhere in our past, someone made us feel small. Perhaps a significant person in your life was reckless and impatient and cut you off and bruised your spirit, when what you really needed was the warmth and softness of encouragement and care.

Acceptance isn't saying you have to stay where you are and never grow, but offering you extra protection and grace so when you're ready to develop, you feel supported and loved.

Acceptance is approving of your humanness and how far you can go, and is wise in its knowing. It understands everyone is going to have a personal experience based on their internal and external conditions.

Acceptance is wanting to pick you up and rock you soothingly and whisper, it's okay—you're trying and that is more than enough...
