Blossoming Tree Yoga - Carla Cooper Yoga Classes, Mini-retreats, 1:2:1's. Northants based. Carla Cooper - qualified yoga instructor. Hello, I’m Carla, a yoga teacher with over 30 years of practice.

My journey into yoga began as a personal exploration, and over time, it has evolved into a deep passion for sharing the practice as a tool for health and happiness. I completed a British Wheel of Yoga Foundation course in 2019, and a 300-hour Yoga Alliance Accredited Teacher Training in 2022. Since then I have continued to train adding certifications in pranayama, trauma-informed restorative yoga, somatic movement, and yoga Nidra. My Hatha classes respect the origins of yoga, and offer an holistic approach to flexibility, relaxation and stress reduction. Through a combination of breathing, movement, and meditation, I aim to help students cultivate a more balanced mind, breath, spirit connection and release underlying tension and stress in the body and nervous system. Today I’m on the receiving end… 🍂🧘‍♀️

All packed and ready for an autumn yoga retreat — autumn hedgerow finds, bolsters, blankets, eye pillows and all the cosy props to help me sink into stillness. It feels so nourishing to pause, rest and be guided. ✨

And in just 3 weeks’ time, I’ll be holding space for you to experience the same at my own Autumn Energy Reset Mini-Retreat:

This week’s classes are dedicated to Samāna Vāyu, the balancing air. Through grounding twists, mindful breathwork, and core-focused practices, we connect with the energy that helps us integrate, digest, and find harmony within. 🌿

Samāna reminds us that balance is not something we achieve once and hold onto — it’s a living process, a steady returning to centre, moment by moment.

I've loved exploring this with you all — thank you for sharing your practice. 💫 Next week we’ll continue our journey with the vayus, moving into the upward and outward flows of energy.

👂 Popping joints? Don’t worry!

We’ve all had that moment — you move, and suddenly your knees, hips, or shoulders make a little “pop” or “crunch”… and you think: uh-oh, am I falling apart?

The good news? Those noises are usually a sign of a healthy joint communicating with you — not a sign of damage. In fact, our joints don’t “wear out” with use. ✨

💡 Here’s what recent training reminded me:

✅ Staying active is one of the best things we can do for joint health.
✅ Exercise is safe — and it helps reduce pain, fatigue, and inflammation.
✅ Movement keeps us strong, supple, and supported.

So next time your body makes a little noise, don’t be put off. Keep moving, keep breathing, keep flowing. 🌿

✨ This Week in Class: Samāna Vāyu – The Balancing Air ✨

We’ve already explored the inward energy of Prāna Vāyu and the grounding release of Apāna Vāyu. Now, we move to the heart of balance — Samāna Vāyu.

Known as the “balancing air,” Samāna Vāyu integrates what we take in with what we let go. It supports digestion — not just of food, but of thoughts, emotions, and experiences — helping us find steadiness at our centre. 🌿

In this week’s practice, we’ll explore twists, core activation, and breath awareness to connect with this harmonising current of energy.

✨ Exploring the Flow of Prāṇa in Our Classes ✨

Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve been diving into the beautiful teachings of the pañcha vayus — the five currents of prāṇa, or vital energy, that move through us. 🌬️

Last week, we focused on Prāna Vāyu — the inward flow of energy. Our practice centred on the breath and the way energy enters and nourishes us, expanding the space within. 💖

This week, we turned to Apāna Vāyu — the grounding, downward-moving energy that helps us root into the earth and let go of what no longer serves us. We worked with deeply grounding poses, including the Gaia sequence where we honour the earth, and explored releasing tension through the breath.

Together, these practices remind us that yoga is both about receiving and releasing — about filling ourselves with fresh energy, and creating space by letting go. 🌿

✨ Next week, we move into Samāna Vāyu — the balancing air. This is the energy of integration, helping us to find harmony and steadiness at our centre.

Our new block of classes begins next week, and we’ll be exploring how yoga helps us reconnect with prāṇa — the vital energy that keeps us healthy, vibrant, and in flow.

✨️ Living yoga off the mat and flowing into prana....✨️

I've been a bit quieter on here lately, not because yoga has taken a backseat, but because I've been out and about a bit more, as we all do in the summer.

I've enjoyed more than usual time with friends and family, walks in nature, camping trips....and wonderfully I've attended lots of other teacher's classes.🙏

This time to rest and reflect on the flow of life, has inspired my theme for this weeks classes and the next block which is due to start week commencing 1st September.

I'm going to focus these classes on Prana (sanskrit) which translates to constant movement, or continuous flow, and refers to the energy that moves within us and animates and sustains us.

We'll journey through;

🧘‍♂️ what prana is and how we can boost its 'continuous flow' to enhance our physical and emotional well-being

✨️ we'll look at how pranayama (breathing), movement and the poses(asanas), and awareness and meditation help us stay in tune with life's current

🙏 and we'll explore the pancha vayus (5 vital energies,) and their role in a yoga practice ♥️

Classes are for all levels and will help you connect with your subtle energy body.

As we return to our regular practice, we're diving into one of the niyamas—the inner observances of yoga—starting with Santosha, often translated as contentment. 💛

Santosha invites us to pause and remember: we are already enough. Not when we reach the next pose, the next goal, or the next version of ourselves—but right here, as we are.

Through movement, breath, and stillness, we’ll explore how to embody this sense of quiet sufficiency, even amidst life's challenges. No striving, just arriving.

✨All levels welcome. Come as you are.✨
