Notification of price increase

From January 2026, my price will be increasing from £45 to £50 a session. I have taken the decision to apply this increase now, as it hasn't been raised at all since I began working from The Acupuncture Shed in 2022. As you know, all costs have gone up substantially including heating, lighting, needles, couch roll, insurance and so on. I have been informing my regular clients of this change in person where I can, and I hope you understand.

As before, each session comprises an hour and is charged at the same rate, whether acupuncture, Reiki, Tui Na or Hopi ear candling.

It's always so lovely to receive messages like this. This gorgeous lady came for acupuncture and massage on a sore shoulder yesterday. As we know, when sleep is impacted (through pain or for other reasons), it has a knock-on effect on everything.

How beautiful is this spring weather?

Now is the time to get out for some fresh air and vitamin D, listen to the birds and look for buds pushing their way up through the soil. Spring is a time for renewal and transformation. It's also a fantastic time to take charge of your health and wellbeing.

How is it December already?! This year has gone so quickly ...

In nature, the trees are bare and dormant. The winter sun is fleeting and lower in the sky. The ground is hard, and it's hibernation time for so many creatures.

Many of us, on the other hand, are revved up, rushing around, caught up in the season's festivities and hurtling towards Christmas, hoping that our energy will last until then.

There's no harm in slowing down, stopping, taking some time to reflect. Accepting that our energy may be lower, saying no to things that don't serve us.

However, if "jingle all the way" is more your style, that's OK too 😀.

Cancellation Policy - please read!

I always prioritise your appointments, and understand that people need to rearrange from time to time. I would ask that you give 48 hours' notice to rearrange or cancel appointments, which will result in no fee.

If you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice, I will have to charge a 100% cancellation fee of the treatment booked to cover costs and my time.

Acupuncture A to Z ... Y is for you.

Any treatment that you book with me will be tailored towards you, depending on your physical and/or emotional needs. 'Treat the person, not the symptoms' is an integral part of our training.

And for you, the client ... all healing is self healing. What are you doing in the time between treatments? Are you taking 10 minutes for yourself, to gather your thoughts, pursue a hobby, have a cuppa in the garden and allow yourself the space to rest and recharge? We give so much of ourselves to others, and we can do that more easily when we give to ourselves as well.

Acupuncture A to Z ... X marks the spot!

Did you know that there are over 365 body points in acupuncture? These are all located along different meridians or channels, some of which are named after organs. Different conditions or symptoms might correspnd to the heart, kidney or liver, for example, so as therapists, we might choose points along those channels to help you.

There are also "ah shi" points, which translate literally as "ouch points"! These are the ones which aren't found in textbooks, but which might feel tender to the touch. Our training encourages us to palpate around the area and, if appropriate, to place a needle there. Sometimes these are the needles which you feel, to which we always say, "the one you feel is the one you need". Our bodies are literal maps, whereby X marks the spot. Acupuncture A to Z ... W is for Walls, Witness, Waiting, Work.

"If walls could talk!"

These walls, like us, have borne witness to the scuffs and marks of life. Some are barely visible, while others remind me every day.

I have had the paint ready since last August, meaning to do the work. Sometimes life has got in the way, other times the weather. Some days I simply haven't had the mental or physical energy to do it.

So I have waited ... Waited until the time was right ... Until the sun was shining again.

Happy Easter weekend to all my lovely clients! Xx

P.S. Doesn't the work always look such a mess when it's in progress? Another life lesson 😀
