December is National Impaired Driving Prevention Month. As the holidays approach, we want to remind everyone to drive safely, not just for yourself, but for everyone around you. If you can’t drive safely, don’t drive at all.

Impaired driving is more than just driving under the influence of a substance like alcohol, it includes distractions like texting, driving while tired, or anything else that reduces your focus and reaction time.

If you plan to consume alcohol or substances, do not drive. Choose a trusted designated driver, opt for a mocktail, or call for a ride when it’s time to head home from the festivities.

For those traveling long distances, plan ahead so you can stay alert and focused. Take breaks as needed, switch drivers with another sober and fully alert adult, and avoid driving when you’re tired or distracted.

No matter your plans this season, make choices that keep you, and everyone else on the road safe, even beyond the holiday season.

🎁 Since 2017 Weston County Law Enforcement have teamed up with local businesses and community members to bring a little extra Christmas magic to Weston County through the Shop With A Cop program.

👮🏻Shop With A Cop builds relationships between law enforcement and the community, especially with children. 5th graders from both elementary schools are chosen to partner with an officer to go on a holiday shopping spree!


🚨Starting with breakfast generously donated by Grazers, students and law enforcement officers pair up for the lights and siren parade that ends at Bomgaars.

🎄Bomgaars opens early just for this yuletide event, staffed and ready for the special shoppers. This is all made possible by the generosity of our community, donations from the Pinnacle Bank Festival of Trees, Powder River Energy, and private donors, and showcases how building stronger communities starts with connection.

🫶🏻At 21 Wellness, we want to gently remind you to make sure to take a moment to yourself this holiday season. Setting some time to recharge and stepping away from the cleaning, the cooking, and the constant to-dos, helps ensure your battery is full when you need it most.🔋

🧘🏻‍♀️Try this simple reset: for every 60 minutes of tasks, take 10 minutes just for yourself. Sit down, take a breath, sip some water, and let yourself be still. These little moments can help you feel more peaceful during the hectic time with friends and family. 🥰

A great read! Parenting young people is tough. Self care is invaluable!

Hey sports parents, can I ask you something?

For all the energy you put into making sure your athlete takes care of their mental health, how much energy are you using to make sure YOU are taking care of your own along the way?

Because the truth is:
Being a sports parent is not for the faint of heart.

The mental load of schedules, game locations, uniform washing and carpool coordinating.

Worrying about your athlete as they navigate adversity.

Managing guilt when you can't be at everything.
Late-night practice pick ups and early wake ups for that 8am game.

Some weekends with the family split between multiple athletes.

Financial stress from the registration fees, equipment, gas and on-the-go meals.

Navigating club/organization/team politics.
Weighing big decisions about what's next for your athlete.

And oh by the way...

Doing ALL the other things that come along with parenting, work and life.

I know our job is to take care of our athletes.
But it was never meant to be done without taking care of ourselves, too.

Because when we care for us:

We can be more present in the moments with them.

We can better manage our emotions on the sidelines and in the car rides home.

We can approach difficult situations with a more centered mind.

We can be an example to our athletes about what it means to maintain a positive mental well-being.

We can soak in everything that is amazing about watching our athletes grow in the sport they love so much.

As sports parents...
As human beings...
We all deserve to take the time to care for us.

And if want our kids to do the same for themselves,

Let's take a timeout ... .. and show them how to do it.
