Are you planning a weekend takeaway but you're conscious about the high calories in these meals?

There are a few ways that you can lower the fat and calories in what you choose!
✔️ Picking tomato based curries rather than creamy ones
✔️ Having boiled rice in place of fried rice
✔️ Choosing tomato pastas instead of cream or cheese based sauces
✔️ Plating up your portion on a smaller plate
✔️ Have a big glass of water before you start your meal

This is something that is much more difficult to do when your overweight and parents have reported really noticing a fantastic difference in their energy levels and ability to play when they adjust to a healthier and more balanced diet.

I did a little kebab experiment on my little one this week and it worked a treat! He honestly would never have looked so lovingly at this fruit if it was just placed in a bowl 😄 And you know what- it worked on me too!

By simply adding the fruit to the kebab sticks it made them more interesting and enticing for us to eat.

Involving your little one in making them is a fun activity that gets them more interested in the food too, he polished the whole thing off in a flash!

Hooray, what a lovely long weekend of sunny weather we've just had! If you're looking to make some healthy changes now's a great time to lean into the weather and match your food to it!
What do I mean by this?-
🍓 Fruit kebabs as your sweet treats
🧊 Icy cold water to keep you hydrated and refreshed
🍅 Lovely fresh salads
🌳 Al fresco dining, having your meals outside when possible will make you less likely to pop back to the kitchen for unnecessary seconds

Have you ever noticed how small the plates are at buffets? That's because smaller plates make your food portion look bigger as it fills up so much more of the area.

Does your shopping basket regularly contain snack cheeses, grapes, squeezy yoghurts, animal shaped crisps and a ton of bananas? If so you must be a fellow toddler parent like me!

How many healthy snacks are in your basket for you to eat for yourself? Do you get to eat any of the grapes or are they all quartered and given to your little one/s?!

So many parents focus carefully on what they're feeding their children but fail to think and prepare for themselves. It's so easily done when you are busy and have them to care for, but it's so important to look after your own health and energy too. It will make you less likely to get run down and help to keep you on your feet chasing the kid/s around too!

As it gets warmer lots of people will be looking forward to their holidays! However some of us may not be feeling "summer ready" and this can be a common time for people to crash diet just before their holidays.

Crash dieting leads to your weight yo-yoing up and down and can be detrimental to your health if you are eating too restrictively and cutting your calorie intake too steeply. It's much more manageable, healthy and realistic to take a steady balanced approach to your weight loss rather than waiting until last minute.

You should be feel healthy and energised by eating a well balanced diet when you lose weight, rather than hungry, sluggish and restricted! My clients who get bespoke food plans from me always report being surprised at how much food they can eat while losing weight!

Seeing podium pictures from the GB Rowing Team at the Wold Cup this week has reminded me of my own podium moments! I like this one because at a quick glance our bronze medals look gold 🤣

I completed my nutrition degree while I was also training and competing hard for a place in the senior GB squad. I feel that taking care of my nutrition was a huge part that helped me train and recover well which helped me break into the squad 🚣

I offer a bespoke Athlete Nutrition package to help people ranging from those looking to compete internationally, to those with a hobby sports who are wanting to improve and make the most out of their training.
