DCR is the academic center for knowledge transfer and services related to clinical research. The complexity of clinical research has been growing steadily.

The Department of Clinical Research is your first point of contact when it comes to any aspect of clinical research, from concept to study conduct and on-site management. The Clinical Investigation Unit (CIU) and clinical trials unit (CTU Bern) work together under the DCR umbrella to provide comprehensive support for patient-centered research. Clinical studies are a prerequisite for advancing our understanding and treatment of diseases. They provide relevant information on disease pathogenesis, epidemiology, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation when conducted according to established scientific standards. The Department of Clinical Research (DCR) provides the central organization for expertise, innovation, leadership, contemporary pedagogy, and centralized facilities for supporting clinical researchers. We work across multiple collaborations at the Faculty of Medicine and the Inselspital. It offers clinical researchers full support from study design to study conduct. The DCR structure consists of three units: CTU Bern, Clinical Investigation Unit (CIU), and the Medical Data Science Unit.
