Autumn is in the air. In the last few days, I have heard more coughing and sneezing. This reminds me of a recipe from Nonna that I would like to share with you.

Steamed tofu with sugar.

Cut the fresh tofu (preferably silken tofu) into slices and place them layer by layer on top of each other, with a layer of sugar between each slice. Put the tofu in a bowl, cover it and steam it, without water, for 20 minutes. Then, drink the broth.
If you have a watery, runny nose and a slight sore throat, use brown sugar; if you have yellow mucus and severe difficulty swallowing, use white sugar.

The recipe is very effective for colds and coughs in the early stages, with no side effects - and it's delicious. Children (from the age of three) love it. Of course, you can also eat the steamed tofu.

I wish you all a beautiful start to the new season.

Nose
Nose
Nose
A runny nose, nasal congestion, or mucus in the sinuses combined with a headache or sore throat... it's not funny.

What does Chinese medicine think about this?
Well, that's what Heya says 😉

First of all, slow down and take some time for yourself. Stay warm; make a delicious tea. Ginger is often used in this case, and lemon and honey are also very helpful. Use the aroma diffuser where you are. Bay laurel (Laurus nobilis) and tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) specifically address the symptoms, but if you have other favorite oils that calm and relax you, enjoy them.
If you have a dear friend or partner who can give you a gentle touch and acupressure, you're in luck! And, of course, self-acupressure is always first aid. What we need to know are the three acupuncture points that help with symptoms around the nose: Yintang, Yingxiang and Tongtian.

@ the dear masseuse
The pictures are just a reference; the exact location of the points varies from person to person. You need to look for the sensitive area around the red dot. Then you apply gentle acupressure. Press as hard as necessary to deform a grape but not break it.

Nasal inhalation of essential oils helps reduce inflammation and mucus. Roman chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile) is mild and therefore more suitable for children and older people. For adults, Bay laurel and tea tree are good choices.
Less is more. Choose 100% Pure Essential Oil, less is more; pay attention to the dosage.

I wish you lots of winter joy.
Heya

"morbida e dura"

"soft and hard"

After my daily 20-minute Italian lesson, the words "soft" and "hard" remain in my head.

Gently, I touch the wound on my leg. After the operation, the tissue in this area was very hard. To compare the other side, it is clear, "dura e morbida".
Few times daily, I massage the leg around the wound; it becomes softer and softer, and I feel that the local blood circulation is much better, the energy flows better, the color is no longer so dark, and my ankle becomes more mobile.

The local sensitivity to touch, especially in the abdominal area, and the local skin temperature are an important factor for diagnosis in Chinese medicine, in addition to the well-known pulse diagnosis.

When we reach middle age or even before, everyone's belly is a sign of our inner health. If we touch it carefully, we will notice that the temperature of the whole abdomen is not really even, and we might find some lumps or even streaks under the skin. Check, palpate ourselves regularly at home and feel whether there is anything abnormal, before when it becomes necessary to visit a medical Doctor or a therapist.
If the abdomen is soft but sluggish and locally cold, along with feeling weak, thick tongue coating, lack of energy, drowsiness and unformed stools, then the main problem may lie in the digestive system. If around the stomach area feels hard and bulging, accompanied by constipation, bad breath or irritability and insomnia, it's worth looking at and adjusting the diet.
These are just some examples, but if we find asymmetrical lumps in the armpits or anywhere else on the body, this is a signal from the body. Of course, this does not mean that we already have something serious, but it is worth paying attention to see if there are changes in size, shape and color. Gentle self-massage or acupressure can be a very effective aid. After a few days of self-treatment, some of the lumps might disappear, and the tissue might get softer.

Most of us have held a healthy baby in our arms before. That is the feeling, evenly warm and soft.

“You don’t have to look into the mirror to see if you are getting older; just move yourself to see if you are still flexible and soft, and not only your body, but also your mind.” Once my Taiji Teacher said.

Stay flexible and soft.
I wish you a gentle and bright 2024.

I haven't learned any animal medicine, just do it by intuition.
Soya was not so easy these days, also had diarrhea. Whenever she allows, I massage her this acupuncture point, (in between the eyes), and add her few drops of Shiso hydrosol in her drinking water.
She is well now 😍
