Our Story
The Swiss Academy of Chiropractic is an independent institution, accredited by the Swiss federal authorities for public health and their accreditation commission. The Swiss Academy of Chiropractic offers postgraduate education for chiropractic assistants and continuing education for licensed chiropractors. It offers Chiropractic Technique Seminars for licensed practitioners and assistants. In Switzerland, chiropractors undergo a two-year assistantship at a licensed chiropractors’ office and take regular postgraduate courses in Bern. They also fulfill a four months training in rheumatology and orthopedics at a participating hospital. The Academy organizes a required federal exam in radioprotection and x-ray technique during the assistantship as well as additional radiology training for applicants from certain undergraduate courses. At the end of the assistantship, assistants have to take a final postgraduate exam to become a specialized chiropractor (Fachchiropraktor/chiropraticien spécialiste). Having passed this exam, chiropractors are allowed to open their own office. The Academy is organized and mainly financed by ChiroSuisse, the Swiss Chiropractic Association. Some funds are donated by cantons and private institutions.
