It needs to be integrated if we truly want to create sustainable growth for human beings, our organizations, our society, and our planet, and to thrive in this constantly changing environment.

All stages of development are important and have something good in them.
Every stage has its own time.
Processes & people matter, interactions & relationships matter, inside and outside the organization - in different ways at any stage.

You can’t impose the higher stage for individuals and organizations, but you can create enabling conditions for them to evolve to the higher stage - as long as you know
1) where the organization and individuals are in this developmental matrix, and
2) if you can include the values and achievements of previous stages.

No human mind can be 100% wrong.
Nobody is smart enough to be wrong all the time.

As we continue to evolve across the vectors of development, described earlier, we are able to see where people are in their development – we begin to understand the value of different opinions, we appreciate the differences, we can work with and through these differences, and create new shared meanings through a constructive dialogue.

What do we need to clean up, transcend, and include to move to the higher stages of development?
How do we open up across multiple lines of development?
How can we wake up to conscious living on this planet?
How do we show up in this world across all dimensions of existence and experience?

“Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity” (World Health Organization).

We can add that embodying our "four states" - body, mind, emotions/feelings, spirit - is the roadmap to health, wellness, and understanding our true being.

Making sense of experience is one of the fundamental drives in human nature. It is our ego’s function to ceaselessly interpret experience and to try to make sense of it.

Think of ego as the central processing unit, if you prefer hard sciences. Think of ego as the story-teller inside your head, If liberal arts are more your style.

Our worldview expands overtime from egocentric, to ethnocentric, to worldcentric. So does our ego - it goes through the stages of development.

Each later stage is more differentiated, integrated, flexible and capable of optimally functioning in a rapidly changing and ever more complex world.
It includes and transcends the previous stages.
The earlier perspectives remain part of our current experience and knowledge (just as when a child learns to run, it doesn’t stop to be able to walk).

A person who has reached a later stage can understand earlier worldviews, but a person at an earlier stage cannot understand the later ones.

As human beings, we all possess a repertoire of intelligences. These multiple intelligences are independent of one another to a significant extent and can be considered as lines of development.

Someone can have highly developed cognitive abilities, have a doctorate in anthropology and medicine, but completely lack moral intelligence and perform deadly experiments on humans. Someone can have exceptional aesthetic talents and be a world-known painter but would be considered weirdo due to low interpersonal intelligence.

Our genetics and life experience to-date will define how evolved we are on each of these developmental lines.

We find ourselves in different states of consciousness based on how we perceive and interpret what is happing around us and what we want to do about it (if anything).

We often move through these states "by default".
Once you recognize which state you are in the moment, you can deliberately move to a higher state.

There are many tools and ways available for it to happen. And... practice makes it possible.
