Yawning isn’t just about being tired — it may help regulate the brain!
New Australian research found that yawning causes cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) — the fluid that protects and cleans the brain — to move away from the brain.
Deep breathing didn’t do this.
Even more interesting? Everyone yawned in their own unique, repeatable pattern, suggesting yawning is an innate neurological behaviour.
While the research is still emerging, it adds to growing evidence that subtle, natural movements can influence nervous system regulation — something Bowen Therapy has long respected.
Sometimes small actions can have a big impact.
