Connecting with the next generation of talent.

On March 27, we took part in the “Lehrstellenbörse Bern 2026” – a regional apprenticeship fair where companies connect with students who are exploring their future career paths. This year, around 1,500 students visited the event, most of them at a pivotal moment in deciding what to do after school.

Representing us were two apprentices from our Swiss headquarters: Yanik Moser, in his fourth year as a polymechanic, and Alessandro Mägli-Barbosa, in his third year as an IT specialist. They answered questions, shared their own experiences, and gave students a real, firsthand look at what it means to train at Haag-Streit.

A special moment to share from Japan!

Dr. Kenichiro Yamazaki at Omiya Nanasato Eye Institute has performed his first multifocal cataract surgeries following the delivery of the METIS 900 microscope.

It’s always meaningful to see new technology enter clinical practice, but even more so when it supports skilled teams doing what they do best. With its brilliant red reflex, depth of field, and proper ergonomics, METIS 900 is designed to fit naturally into the surgical workflow.

Last week, we hosted a 5-day Diagnostics Service Training at our headquarters in Köniz, Switzerland.

We welcomed a highly engaged group from Burkina Faso, the Netherlands, the USA, Austria, Switzerland, Mali, and Costa Rica.

Thanks to pre-training materials, participants arrived well prepared. This allowed us to focus on hands-on sessions from day one, ensuring our partners are ready to support, maintain, and troubleshoot our diagnostic products in the field.

For the first time, the Elara 900 and Refractor 900 were part of the program, helping build confidence with our latest solutions.

A social evening also gave us the opportunity to exchange real-world experiences and better understand the challenges technicians face.

Thank you to everyone who made this week both productive and enjoyable!
