Last week, our colleague Kirstin Brünjes presented Haag-Streit's circular economy initiatives at the fourth Forum Kreislaufwirtschaft Bern 2026, focusing on the use of secondary aluminum.

Why are we working on this?

Because the circular economy is not just a sustainability topic; it's becoming a business necessity. Resources are limited, and Switzerland relies heavily on imports. Additionally, material production is a major source of CO₂ emissions. At the same time, regulatory expectations are increasing.

And yet, only around 10% of Swiss companies are implementing circular approaches in a comprehensive way.

In one of our circular economy pilot projects, we replaced primary aluminum with recycled material in the microscope arm of one of our slit lamps and achieved the same performance with a significantly lower CO₂ footprint and costs. This is a great example of how the circular economy can deliver real impact when CO₂ reduction, regulatory compliance, and a clear business case come together.

DICOM connectivity is now available for the Elara 900 slit lamp with Software Version 1.3 – bringing a new level of efficiency to your daily routine.
