It’s World Octopus Day! 🐙

The “Slit Lamp Imaging Competition 2025” brought together remarkable talent from across the globe – with entries from 32 countries, including Singapore, Brazil, India, the USA, the UK, Australia, and Japan.

Our customer, Dr. Yamazaki, searched many years to find a surgical microscope that delivered satisfactory image quality. Now, with the METIS, he has found it.

In 1933, Haag-Streit introduced its first slit lamp, the Spaltlampe 320, which was developed in collaboration with Professor Hans Goldmann.

Unlike earlier instruments, the 320 combined smooth mechanical motion with a binocular microscope and a rotatable lens turret. This design offered a new level of precision and flexibility during eye exams.

Though it was produced in small numbers, the 320 set a new standard and laid the groundwork for generations of slit lamps to follow.

⚡The wait is over – we proudly present the winners of the “Slit Lamp Imaging Competition 2025!”

This year’s competition brought together an extraordinary community: 384 submissions from 32 countries, showcasing both the clinical precision and artistic creativity of slit lamp imaging.

Our expert jury carefully evaluated every entry for image quality, technical ex*****on, and disease interest. The result? A collection that pushes boundaries and sets new benchmarks in ophthalmic imaging worldwide.
