Today we are bringing attention to Behçet’s disease, a rare inflammatory rheumatic and musculoskeletal disease (RMD) that affects blood vessels, skin, eyes, and joints. Symptoms may include painful mouth or ge***al ulcers, eye inflammation, and joint pain.

Patients play an important role in shaping the future of rheumatology care and research.

Last month, EULAR and the European Medicines Agency (EMA) met to discuss key priorities in rheumatology, including advocacy, quality of care, research, and the meaningful involvement of patients in regulatory decision-making.

Today marks International Fibromyalgia Awareness Day, a day to recognise and support the millions of people living with a condition that is often invisible but deeply impactful.

Fibromyalgia affects more women than men. Although it does not cause inflammation or joint damage, it is recognised as a rheumatic and musculoskeletal condition because it affects soft tissues, impairs musculoskeletal function, and leads to chronic widespread pain.

Lupus occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissue, causing inflammation and potential damage to organs such as the skin, joints, kidneys, lungs, heart, and brain.

Every year on May 10, World Lupus Day raises awareness of this complex and often misunderstood autoimmune disorder, which is also classified as a systemic rheumatic disease.

At EULAR, we advocate for better care, research, and health policies. Together, we can make lupus visible and support those affected. 💜
