In love with the Land of Giants
The Day 2 of the Round Trip took us through such a variety of landscapes! From San Francisco to Kings Canyon and Sequoia parc high in the Sierra Nevada mountains, and then all the way down the winding mountain roads to the hot plain of Visalia town.
We saw desertic mountains at the beginning, then the green Giant Forest of Sequoia trees, as well as the parts of burned-out forests, and for the end of the beautiful day, the golden sunset on the Lake Kaweah, home to Cherokee tribes.
Huge mountains, deep canyons, and the world’s largest trees exemplify the diversity of landscapes, life, and beauty here.
We are in love with these Giant Sequoia trees! They are full of grace, force, resistence and softeness at the same time. Their bark is so soft to touch! They may seem invincible, but they, too are vulnerable. Most of these trees have fire scars that touched them many times during hundreds of years of their lives. And they also need fires that clean the forest and open their cones to spread seeds. But lately fires were of extreme intensity and big parts of the forests suffered more than planned by the nature.
Our road will continue to Las Vegas, but we already want to come back to this magical place again and spend a few days to fully feel the spirit of this ancient forest. ❤️
