January is often considered as the month of fresh energy, big goals and strong resolutions. But any of us it might feel very different. Slower, quieter and still recovering from everything the last year asked of us. A time to reflect, to rest and to gently shift into what comes next.

Our IGNITE YOUR INNER LIGHT day retreat is an invitation to honor that natural rhythm. Not to push forward but to soften, slow down and reconnect.

Join Bliss Breathwork and Tracy Germani Yoga for a nourishing day retreat focused on body, breath and presence. Through vinyasa yoga, breathwork, meditation, movement, sound and a nourishing vegetarian lunch you are supported to release what no longer serves you and reconnect with your inner light.

Come on your own and gift yourself this space or bring a friend who you know could really use this too.

A grounded supportive space to reset your nervous system, restore your energy and move into the coming months with clarity and calm.

Sutra 1.1: Atha yoga anushasanam.

Translated from Sanskrit: Now begins the practice of yoga.

The yoga sutras are an ancient text attributed to the sage Patanjali, and Sutra 1.1 is a reminder that yoga happens off the mat just as much as, or perhaps even more than, on the mat.

When we're not fully present, come back to THIS moment.

When we're triggered, finding ourselves in irritation, or hearing negative thoughts or self-talk... this is when the practice begins.

Notice the separation from the thought, connect with your breath and...

Pause.

Creating that pause is sometimes the hardest, but also the most impactful.

Elie Wiesel: 'Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.'

Conscious relaxation

This is a busy world we live in... In most geographies we aren't fighting off wild animals to survive anymore, but the stressors of modern life can mean that our "fight or flight" system or sympathetic nervous system is always turned to the "on" position.

Living in constant low-grade stress can lead to so many health problems over time.

Incorporating mindfulness,
..intentional slow and deep breathing,
..and conscious relaxation into our lives
..can instead activate our parasympathetic nervous system which is the body's rest and relaxation response.

Allowing us to

REST.

It's so critical to shift from rushing through our day and from thinking and doing.... to just being in our body. Arriving at feeling and being can feel like bliss.

What is your favorite way to slow down?

In case you need to slow down, I have several upcoming events starting in the next week that may speak to you:

1) Monthly candlelight restorative yoga and sound baths in Richterswil starting this Sunday Jan 19th 5-6pm.

2) A 4-class meditation and yin yoga series on Monday evenings via Zoom from 8-9pm starting this Monday Jan 20th.

Meditation affords us space and time.

Time to slow down and come to the present moment, which is the only place life is truly lived.

Time to connect with our breath and our inner self, without the worries of the outer world.

And the ability to find time between stimulus and our response.

For you to ponder...
If our entire life were only the next 24 hours, how would we live life? How would we treat ourselves and others?
How would YOU choose to spend this next 24 hours?
Live mindfully, spread kindness and create moments that matter.

Online meditation and yin series starting Monday Jan. 20th at 8pm via Zoom. Replays available. DM for more info.

✨Mantra meditation✨

It’s a new year, and many people have set intentions or meaningful words for the year ahead.

One way to incorporate these into your daily life is mantra meditation or chanting.

🕉️ What is a mantra?
The word itself originates from Sanskrit, "man" meaning mind and "tra" meaning release. It's a syllable, word or phrase, the repetition of which is a way to release the mind, release stress and blockages, and help you focus and concentrate better. They can be in English, Sanskrit or any other language

🕉️ How to do a mantra meditation or chant
Choose a mantra that is meaningful to you, and repeat it silently in your mind, or chant it with music. Vocal chanting is also beneficial in raising the vibration in your body and opening the throat chakra. It just feels sooo nice in the body, getting into rhythm and calming the nervous system.

👉🏻 2 of my favorites are Sa Re Sa Sa by Snatam Kaur and Parvati's Peace Song by Ellen Molnia. Close your eyes, get in the vibe and chant away! 🥰Check them out and let me know what you think!

Japa meditation is another form of mantra meditation. If you have a set of mala beads, they generally have 108 beads and you silently or verbally say the mantra as you move your fingers along the beads. One bead per time of saying the mantra.

Then repeat any of these methods for 5-20 minutes and voila, inner peace!

Do you have a mantra you are working with? Comment below 👇

If you're interested in working more with energy and learning about the chakra system, there are still a few spots in my chakra and vinyasa/yin workshop this Sunday afternoon. DM for more info!

Mindset Matters

✨Change your mind, change your life✨

If you've taken my classes before, you know that I like to talk about "yoga off the mat". That is ~ more than just the physical postures, or asana ~ yoga is about incorporating our learnings from yoga into life.

Yoga is meant to challenge us...
👉🏻 whether it is finding stillness for 3 minutes while holding a yin pose,
👉🏻 or learning a new arm balance,
👉🏻 or working on hip flexibility for double pigeon.

The question is how do we face the challenge? Do we continue to show up with an open mindset and see how the pose feels in our body on that particular day, or do we throw up our hands?

If we fall in yoga, we just get right back in and try it again.

Same. In. Life. 🧘‍♀️🕉️🧘‍♀️

I will say, there are plenty of asana that will likely not be accessible for my body at least in this lifetime, but I also know that I am continuing to grow in my own yoga practice while solidly in my mid-50s. And that feels good.

Sending peace, health, happiness and mindful moments your way for 2025.

My intention for the period ahead is to release… release into the moment, into stillness and movement.

Release fears and inhibitions. Release any stories in my head which don’t serve me. Just let that s #*t go.

Ready to be present, to create and to enjoy. 🧘‍♀️🕉️🧘‍♀️
