The mind doesn’t spiral over small things. It saves that for the things that actually matter.
Like when it feels like everything is depending on one outcome.
Where you’re waiting, and there’s nothing to do but wait.
Where you’re trying not to get your hopes up, but also not lose them completely.
That’s when it starts trying to take control. Running ahead, playing out every possible version of what could happen, like if it just thinks hard enough it’ll come up with the “right” solution.
But it doesn’t really work like that. You just end up somewhere in the future, while your body is still here going through it.
The only thing that helps is catching it. Not stopping it or fixing it. Just noticing you’ve drifted again, and bringing yourself back to what’s actually here now.
And then doing that again later. And again after that.
I know it’s easier said that done, because when something really matters, of course it’s hard to stay present.
All you want is certainty and control, especially when the stakes are so high and you’re running out of time.
If you’re in the middle of something like that right now, save this. You’ll probably need the reminder more than once. 🙏🏼
Sending much love. 🤍
