We're witnessing something unprecedented: a global shift in how we relate to food that spans every continent and culture. The numbers tell a story we can't ignore—more than 1 billion people worldwide are now living with obesity, according to the WHO. That's one in eight people globally.¹
The statistics paint a picture that demands our attention: obesity rates have more than doubled among women (from 8.8% to 18.5%) and nearly tripled in men (from 4.8% to 14.0%) since 1990.² In 2022, 43% of adults globally were overweight.³ Even in Europe, where rates are typically lower, countries like the UK report that 69% of men and 59% of women are overweight or obese.⁴ Meanwhile, binge eating disorder affects 2.8 million Americans alone and has become the most common eating disorder in the United States.⁵
But behind every statistic is a story of someone living in the past, searching for answers, or even someone ready for change.
