STOP RUNNING FROM THE LIONS!! 🤯

In our ancestors’ time, stress was typically a response to immediate physical threats to our survival like being chased by a lion. However, in our modern lives, stress often comes from non-physical sources like work pressures, financial worries, constant connectivity and social expectations.

Despite the different sources, our bodies and minds cannot tell the difference and still react as if these stressors were physical threats, triggering the sympathetic nervous, our ‘fight or flight’.

Chronic activation of the SNS due to ongoing stress means that the system’s focus is on survival, meaning the increase of blood pressure and heart rate, alertness, etc. This also means that the capacity of the remaining organs is reduced which ultimately leads to numerous health issues, such as anxiety, high blood pressure, digestive problems, weakened immune function and much more.
💨 It’s like having a car engine constantly running – eventually, it will wear out.

In traditional yoga, we don‘t jump from one pose to another or practice ‚fun flows‘. Traditional Yoga is about establishing mental stability while we experience challenging situations.

We hold poses longer than what we intentionally would and find that sweet point where we can choose to overcome our lower mind that tells us to move, fidget and go back to relaxation and tap into our higher mind. The part of us that is the observer, the wittiness of our thoughts and the part that is always at peace, even when things get shaky.

Finding comfort in the discomfort will train you to be ok with challenges, to face them with curiosity and courage, to take the learnings from mistakes and welcome and accept all of your emotions so you can show up whole, authentic and human.

Let‘s bring back the tradition of real yoga, the stuff that the warriors practice, that let‘s up evolve, transform and grow 🧘🏽💪🏾
