Feeling the effects of this extreme heat?
Here are four simple, effective yoga and Ayurveda inspired practices to help you stay cool, calm, and energised.

1. Half Butterfly Pose (Yin Yoga)
Sit with one leg extended and the other foot tucked into the inner thigh. Gently fold forward over the extended leg, letting your spine round.
• Hold for 3–5 minutes per side
• Relieves heat, calms the mind, aids digestion

2. Nadi Shodhana (Alternate Nostril Breathing)
Close your right nostril with your thumb, inhale through the left. Close the left nostril with your ring finger, exhale through the right. Continue alternating.
• Practise for 5–10 minutes
• Balances body heat and energy
• Soothes the nervous system

3. Ayurveda Tip for Summer
Favour cooling foods like cucumber, mint, watermelon, and fresh coriander. Avoid overly spicy, oily, or fried foods, which can aggravate body heat.
• Stay hydrated with room-temperature water
• Light, fresh meals help maintain balance

4. Evening Meditation
Before bed, sit comfortably and bring attention to your breath. Notice your body relaxing, your thoughts slowing down. Reflect on one or two things you’re grateful for today.
• Practise for 5–10 minutes
• Brings a sense of calm and contentment
• Helps prepare the mind for restful sleep
