... an outstanding project led by Ole Ackermann, which has not only been published as an AWMF guideline but also made its way into the Archives of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery.
This work highlights, once again, the significant value of ultrasound diagnostics in fracture assessment. Being responsible for the hand section, I found it both inspiring and captivating to work alongside such a highly accomplished team of ultrasound specialists.

Rückblickend noch ein paar Impressionen von einem tollen Jahreskongress der (DGH), der dieses Jahr in Hannover stattfand und in vielen Dingen auffällig positiv aus der Reihe fiel.

Danke an Karsten Becker, Tobias Lutz und Kirsten Schlingmann für die tolle Organisation, die tollen Gespräche, die Gelegenheit, auch in diesem Jahr wieder einen ausgebuchten Fortbildungskurs zum Thema Ultraschalldiagnostik der Hand zu organisieren und für die Anfrage der DATH, die Ultraschalldiagnostik im Rahmen einer Live Demo zu präsentieren. Die neuen Kurstermine für den Fortbildungskurs Ultraschalldiagnostik der Hand der Handchirurgie Seefeld in Zürich stehen fest.

Die ganztägige Veranstaltung richtet sich sowohl an Anfänger als auch fortgeschrittene Ultraschalldiagnostiker, die Kenntnisse bezüglich der sonografischen Diagnostik an der Hand erwerben, erweitern oder vertiefen möchten. Im Rahmen des Workshops werden folgende Themen detailliert besprochen und in praktischen Übungen am Ultraschallgerät vermittelt:

* Physikalische Grundlagen und Geräteeinstellungen
* Sonografische Anatomie der Hand
* Sonografische Diagnostik häufiger Verletzungen und Erkrankungen an der Hand
* Ultraschallgesteuerte Infiltrationstechniken

I am just leaving the Annual Meeting of the German, Austrian, and Swiss Societies for Ultrasound in Medicine, held this year in Salzburg, Austria. „Ultrasound 2024“ was once again an outstanding event, bringing together the latest advancements in sonographic research and fostering interdisciplinary exchange - here with Christoph Simm, Thomas Mehlich and Wolfgang Hartung. This congress consistently offers fresh and fascinating ideas.

I would like to extend my thanks to the congress chairs, Barbara Pertl and Univ.-Prof. Dr. Hannes Gruber, for their excellent organization, and to Univ.-Prof. Dr. Hannes Gruber and PD Dr. Alexander Loizides for the invitation to chair two sessions and deliver lectures on Ultrasound-guided Interventions on the Hand and Functional Sonography of the Hand

At this year’s annual meeting of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH) in Minneapolis, another sold-out ultrasound course, „Ultrasound: Hand Surgery’s New Frontier“. Thanks to the organizers, John Fowler, Isabelle David, and Thomas Hughes, for inviting me to teach and share tips and tricks on diagnostic ultrasound and ultrasound-guided procedures with the many great attendees. It was an honor to be there, and I was able to fulfill a long-held dream: to visit Paisley Park - the home of one of the greatest talents and artists of our time: Prince Roger Nelson.

I have just had some pictures taken by my good friend Michiel Cromheecke. Yesterday, we successfully conducted the first ultrasound course at an annual meeting of the FESSH | Federation of European Societies for the Surgery of the Hand, which was exceptionally well-received in terms of content, response, and attendance. The course appeared to be significantly overbooked, highlighting the tremendous interest in ultrasound. It was a pleasure collaborating with all my experienced colleagues:

A wonderful course offered by the SEECO Sociedad Española de Ecografía on Hand and Wrist Ultrasound. I extend my sincere gratitude to Francisco Javier Ferreira Villanova and Eva Tamargo for their excellent organization and for inviting me to participate as a lecturer and tutor. I’d also like to express my appreciation to the rest of the faculty, including Fernando Jimenez Díaz, Ricardo Aguiló, and Fernando Corella Montoya. Special thanks to both, Francisco Javier Ferreira Villanova and Fernando Jimenez Díaz for their invaluable contributions and dedication to ultrasound.

It’s truly inspiring to collaborate with individuals who possess vast knowledge, experience, and a genuine passion for sharing it without reservation. This approach is crucial for enhancing the diagnostic standards of medicine, particularly with the integration of another indispensable tool increasingly utilized in hand diagnostics and minimally invasive surgical treatments for hand disorders.

We did it again: Impressions of two wonderful days at the XIII. Interventional Cadaver Course on Ultrasound and Clinically Guided Joint and Spine Interventions, held at the Institute of Anatomy of the University of Basel on April 12 and 13.
Many thanks to Giorgio Tamborrini for organizing the course and inviting me to be a faculty member. I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with such excellent and experienced colleagues and to teach so many wonderful participants from all over the world.
