The lobster is a soft animal that lives in a rigid shell. The rigid shell does not expand.
Then how can a lobster grow?
Over time, the shell begins to become cramped and the lobster feels under pressure, in discomfort. It then goes under stones to protect itself from predatory fish, gets rid of its shell and produces a new one.
Well, after a while this shell also becomes too small and uncomfortable.
Back under the rocks, the lobster repeated this over and over again. The stimulus that makes the lobster grow is the fact that it feels uncomfortable.
So if lobsters had doctors then they would never grow up because as soon as they didn't feel comfortable they would go to the doctor and take medicaments, feel good and stop down the shell.
I think we need to understand that periods of stress are also signals of growth, and if we use adversity as we should, we can grow through adversity.
