I know… no hand creams for ages and then two in quick succession! When brands send products out for review or inclusion, they often include marketing materials … otherwise known as . I know it’s a controversial point about whether gifts really are sweeteners but I’m old school and have received enough over the years to say quite positively that they don’t sway one way or the other. Very often the ‘gift’ is a bar of chocolate, a wash bag or a bag of jelly beans (not joking!) and more recently, flavoured teas or recyclable cups with the occasional microphone, plant or healthy drinks. I know there is a gifting hierarchy but what I’ve just described is the norm and while there are always exceptions to that, this level is more usual. The reason I mention this is because Bloom & Blossom repurposed their marketing material by leaving it out and donating the costs to Action For Children instead and it struck me that if all brands did this for at least one new product launch, it would amount to significant donations and probably page space because it’s a good thing to do. I don’t need jelly beans any more than I need more wash bags.

In addition, 10% of every sale throughout this month will go directly to Action For Children. Hands Up is a very decent daily hand cream – light and creamy with some extra ingredients (99% naturally derived) such as niacinamide (brightening), liquorice root (also brightening!) and everyone’s favourite super hydrator, shea butter. The fragrance is light but rather lovely – bergamot, ylang ylang and cedarwood which translates to a bright holiday-ish scent.

The one caveat to an otherwise effective and nourishing hand cream is the pump dispenser. I ‘think’ it’s short to use less plastic but it does mean that you need to keep it on its end because it relies on a full compliment of cream available for it to work properly. I actually twist the top off altogether and use it that way – I’m not sure there was any need for a pump at all. It’s no hardship to keep it upended – it’s by my kitchen sink – but something to be aware of. Bloom & Blossom Hands Up Hand Cream is £18 HERE.
