A diabetic alert dog will always be letting you know things with the blood sugar are absolutely not as they seem! And that’s such a huge value for type 1 management and striving for tight control! Double is our diabetic alert dog for Myles, my 6 yr old son with type 1 diabetes.
Double’s high blood sugar target is 140 and he was alerting me that Myles is rising and soon going to hit that 140. Dexcom was reading 102 and steady!
We would never know Myles was rising or even high at all if we relied only on the Dexcom.
Because of Double, we know to calibrate the Dexcom and give a bit of insulin to bring his blood sugar down.
