- Start Antenatal Clinic Early:
As soon as you discover your pregnancy, begin attending antenatal clinics. Please don't say it's my 3rd pregnancy, No pregnancy is ever the same. Don’t ever miss a clinic day to ensure you’re monitored closely, that clinic day you plan to miss might be the one that will save your life.
- Take Your Medications:
Strictly take your prescribed medications, including folic acid, iron tablets, calcium supplements, or any other medications recommended by your doctor or midwife. These are important for your health and your baby’s development.
Consult with a Gynecologist:
A gynecologist consultation is essential. Their expertise will help address any concerns and provide guidance throughout your pregnancy.
- Get Ultrasounds Done: Ensure you have at least three ultrasounds performed, or more as directed by your midwife or doctor. These scans are crucial for monitoring your baby's growth and development.
- Prepare an Emergency Bag:
Start gathering your emergency bag by the sixth month. Include essentials for you and your baby to ensure you’re ready for the big day.
- Have a Standby Driver: Arrange for a reliable driver who can assist you in getting to the hospital quickly when the time comes.
- Blood Donor Network: Identify three healthy individuals who are willing to donate blood at any time.
- Midwife Contact Information:
Keep the contact number of your midwife at the hospital where you plan to give birth. This ensures you can reach out for guidance and support when needed.
- Carry Important Documents:Always have your ANC card, medical booklet, echography reports, and lab results with you.
- Financial Preparation:
Always have money on you
Budget for your hospital expenses, including delivery costs, medications, and any additional services you may need. It’s wise to have a financial plan in place to ensure you’re prepared for the costs associated with childbirth.
