Webinar Highlight

On September 20th, 2025, PBOHI, together with Alkhairat Association, Cameroon, held a special online webinar in commemoration of the Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

The theme was:
“Supporting Parents of Children with Cancer: Navigating Grief, Depression, and Hope.”

Parents, young people, health workers, and community friends came together to share stories, feelings, and ideas on:

🎯 How parents deal with sadness and pain
🎯 Why support and kindness matter so much
🎯 How young people can raise their voices for change
🎯How communities can bring comfort and hope

👉 Key lessons we learned:

🎯Grief takes time, and every parent’s journey is different.

🎯Emotional and mental health support is not extra it is essential.

🎯Youth voices and community love can break stigma and bring healing.

🎯Hope grows when we share, listen, and walk together.

We thank all our speakers, and participants for helping us shine light on this very important conversation.

🌟 Champion in Focus – PBOHI 🌟

Meet Laeticia, a Laboratory Scientist currently serving at Nkwen District Hospital.

Laeticia earned her Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences at St. Louis University Institute and is passionate about raising awareness on the impact of cancer on individuals and families in her community. Through sensitization and education, she works to empower people with the knowledge they need for prevention and early detection.

Her journey is a reminder that every role in healthcare, from the laboratory to the community, can be a powerful tool for change.

We are proud to spotlight Laeticia today as part of our PBOHI Spotlight Series and we are looking forward to her active participation and collaboration in the community.

🌟 Champion in Focus – PBOHI 🌟

Meet Bongyu Fomonyuy, a Nursing and Midwifery student at the University of Bamenda whose training and service are already making an impact.

Through her academic journey, Joyceline has built strong skills in managing health and overall well-being, gaining hands-on experience through hospital internships and volunteering with health-oriented NGOs. She is deeply inspired by SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and is committed to actively contributing to making it a reality in her community.

Her story shows how young professionals can combine learning with service to improve lives and advance health equity.

We are proud to spotlight Joyceline today as part of our PBOHI Spotlight Series and we look forward for her active participation and collaboration in the community.
