An Incredible Experience Leading the First Aid Team at True Life International Medical Outreach in Bastos, Yaoundé!

I had an amazing time leading the True Life International Medical Outreach first AID during a recent event in Bastos, Yaoundé. This experience allowed me to put my skills as a certified First Aid member of the Cameroon Red Cross into action. Having earned my First Aid Member’s Certificate from the since 2018(5years ago) , I felt honored and prepared to support the community.

It was also an exiting moment and an honor to meet and engage with some of Cameroon’s most distinguished medical professionals.

I was especially honored to meet Dr. Lydie N. , a specialist in Endocrinology and Diabetes with over 20 years of practice in the USA, and her uncle Professor Jean Claude , a Professor of Medicine and Endocrinology, whose unmatched contributions to the field of diabetes have had a profound impact in Cameroon and beyond.

Our conversation left me both excited and eager to explore opportunities for collaboration. There is so much potential to work alongside these great minds to advocate for better health outcomes in our nation. Together, we can lay the groundwork for a healthier future for all.

It’s still October, the pink month, and we cannot stay silent about men and breast cancer.

Can men have breast cancer without breasts? Yes, men do have breast tissue, which means they can also develop breast cancer. While approximately 99% of breast cancer cases occur in women, 0.5% to 1% of cases affect men.

The treatment of breast cancer in men follows the same principles of management as in women. Early detection and treatment are crucial for both genders.

Spread the word awareness can save lives. Stay safe, get checked, and take action early.

In my medical practice, I've seen how easily health professionals can neglect their own well-being, leading to stress and burnout. Maintaining a work-life balance is essential. Here are some key tips:

Beyond alcohol, the rate of drug and substance abuse among our youths and teens is deeply concerning. Peer pressure, mental health issues, lack of awareness, easy accessibility, and media influence all contribute to this growing problem.

We must take action NOW! Here's how we can make a difference:

🧠 Education and Awareness: Informing our youths about the real risks and consequences of drug use.

💬 Mental Health Support: Providing accessible mental health resources and support.
